Edited on Fri Apr-30-04 10:48 PM by Redleg
Which of these is the best gin? I vote for Bombay Sapphire! Hic.

1. Depends
Rocks, with olives (or in a martini), Bombay Sapphire.
In a gin & tonic, I prefer Tanqueray.

2. Plymouth is damned nice, too
but Bombay Sapphire rocks for martinis

those other Tanquerays (that No. 10, and the old-fashioned version that's got all those aromatics) are better for gin and tonics, as noted about the regular tanq.

4. My martini this evening is 2 oz. Bombay Sapphire and 0 oz. vermouth
Edited on Fri Apr-30-04 11:00 PM by Redleg
No bloody olive or twist, either. I guess that means it's straight gin. Hic.

6. ah Bombay
i haven't had much of it since i got absolutely TANKED mixing it on the beach one day with Gatorade. I had been sitting down the whole time sipping it, when it was time to leave I stood up and the world turned upside down. That was perhaps the nearest Ive ever come to death by alcohol, but damn its good stuff. It was reported to me that i drank about half a bottle.

9. Fermented Pine?
I'd much rather gnaw on a charred oak cask filled with corn squeezins than drink anything an over-aged Christmas Tree can provide.

10. tch...that's not pine, it's juniper.
Edited on Fri Apr-30-04 11:47 PM by Spider Jerusalem
And you really ought to try the Sapphire. Unlike, say, Tanqueray, it doesn't overpower you with the essence-of-pine thing. One of the reasons it's my preference. There are two ways to ruin a perfectly good Martini: one is by using an excesively piney gin, the other is by adding an olive.
(And let's not even go into vodka; vodka is a liquor for uncultured Philistines and dilettantes lacking in refinements of palate who would rather taste mixers than a real DRINK, made with a real liquor like, say, gin.)

11. LOL! It goes without saying a Martini is made with Gin, not Vodka.
You are absolutely right about that.

14. Wimpy? Wimpy is a person who needs to add vermouth and garnish
to their gin.

13. Beefeater has the best taste to me,
which is nice because it's cheaper. Sapphire has too much herbs and shit in it.
