Nick on Jessica at Derby "She's in betting line spending more of my money
What an ass. As if Jessica Simpson doesn't have money of her own to spend. Or is all their money HIS money.

This is a major pet peeve of mine. So many men are prone to characterize their wives that way - of course none of them frequent DU!

2. Wait a minute - Jessica is definately the bigger money maker of the two
Nick was a member of one of those 2nd rate boy bands and his solo career is so-so at best. Jessica is probably the bigger money maker of the two.

He needs to get over himself

4. When you're married, shouldn't it be OUR money?
Sometimes I can't believe it's 2004.

Lucy, I'm home...

11. famous rich people have pre-nups
so "my money" and "your money" could very well have a specific meaning.

3. I saw the show once, she spends money pretty freely
Edited on Sat May-01-04 04:44 PM by jabuchan
I'm not sure that she has much financial sense. While its probably not all his money, if she spends enough she'll be dipping into his. That's how marraige works. Even housewife's should have a say in how their husbands spend their money, because it eventually effects them.

on edit: and Jessica Simpson was a second rate pop-star whose career got a boost from a TV show that was a mutual decision, so I think you probably underrate Nick's contribution to that relationship.

12. That didn't come out right,
Edited on Sat May-01-04 05:30 PM by jabuchan
my point was that even those who don't earn the money in a relationship should have a say in how its spent. Even househusbands/wives should have a say in how the household income is spent, because it will eventually effect them. Thanks for policing my language so effectively. I guess I was being sexist in stating that the highest earner should not be the sole handler of the purse strings.

On edit: sorry for being defensive. I just feel stupid when I come off as a jerk, because I'm not being careful with my language.

I didn't think you meant it the way it came across, but it did sound weird to me.

I certainly agree that BOTH folks in a marriage should have EQUAL input into the how money is spent, regardless of who earns it. You are definitely correct in that it ultimately effects both people.

So, peace, brother (or sister, as the case may be)!

on edit - do you realize your last post was number 666?

9. I agree, Taverner.
Their show is crap.

Hell, she's making money off her stupidity. Did you see the new Pizza Hut commercial with her in it? Someone says something about buffaloes not having wings to where she replies "Yeah, I know. Buffaloes don't have wings." In one episode of her show, she actually thought buffaloes had wings! ROTFL!

I'm sure he'll change his tune. Probably to something like "I told her to go back in the betting line and spend my money."
