6. I hit paste and got this
Edited on Mon May-03-04 09:14 AM by Skinner
I wasn't the one who copied it, but it was meaningful and perhaps not an accident you asked this when it was on my clipboard, so I kept it. :) I don't believe in accidents. I believe the universe is always trying to tell us something. That's where the cynic in me leaves and my spiritual side takes over as I try to venture forth in life as someone with an open mind and open heart to whereever the universe decides to take me. - "Deep Thoughts" by Jack Handy....I mean...uh...errr... me! (They've been known to pop up every once in awhile anyway.)
So anyway, this was what I got when I hit paste:

500 BC
BUDDHA, THE WORD
(The Eightfold Path)

THE FOUR NOBLE TRUTHS

THUS has it been said by the Buddha, the Enlightened One: It is
through not understanding, not realizing four things, that I,
Disciples, as well as you, had to wander so long through this round of
rebirths. And what are these four things? They are the Noble Truth
of Suffering, the Noble Truth of the Origin of Suffering, the Noble
Truth of the Extinction of Suffering, the Noble Truth of the Path that
leads to the Extinction of Suffering.
As long as the absolutely true knowledge and insight as regards
these Four Noble Truths was not quite clear in me, so long was I not
sure, whether I had won that supreme Enlightenment which is
unsurpassed in all the world with its heavenly beings, evil spirits
and gods, amongst all the hosts of ascetics and priests, heavenly
beings and men. But as soon as the absolutely true knowledge and
insight as regards these Four Noble Truths had become perfectly
clear in me, there arose in me the assurance that I had won that
supreme Enlightenment unsurpassed.
And I discovered that-profound truth, so difficult to perceive,
difficult to understand, tranquilizing and sublime, which is not to be
gained by mere reasoning, and is visible only to the wise.
The world, however, is given to pleasure, delighted with pleasure,
enchanted with pleasure. Verily, such beings will hardly understand
the law of conditionality, the Dependent Origination of every thing;
incomprehensible to them will also be the end of all formations, the
forsaking of every substratum of rebirth, the fading away of
craving; detachment, extinction, Nirvana.
Yet there are beings whose eyes are only a little covered with dust:
they will understand the truth.

I got the call from Joel McCarty this evening that Emma picked up her
final 2 points today in Kentucky under Mr. Houston Clark. Emma just
turned two. She started her career less than a year ago winning two
points under breeder judge Guy Jeavons prior to undressing for the
summer. Thank you to handlers Nick Joines & Joel McCarty, and Jane
Hammett for her presentation this Spring, and to the judges that
appreciated her quality.

25. Something I posted on another DU thread -- why Bush is going to Hell
31 When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory.
32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

34 Then the King will say to those on his right, "Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.
35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,
36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me."

37 Then the righteous will answer him, "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?
38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?
39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?"
40 The King will reply, "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."

41 Then he will say to those on his left, "Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,
43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me."

44 They also will answer, "Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?"
45 He will reply, "I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me."
46 Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.

SoCal women out to prove football is not simply a man's game

The Associated Press
Last Updated 9:20 am PDT Sunday, May 2, 2004

IRVINE, Calif. (AP) - For Michelle Macchiaroli, the attraction to football is simple.
"I just wanna hit people," the Santa Ana police officer said with a grin.

That's just what she got to do Saturday, when she and six other women tried out for the Orange County Breakers of the fledgling National Women's Football Association. Macchiaroli and the other six made it, but whether they'll get to play a down for the Breakers remains to be seen. So far the team has no stadium, no training facilities and is 28 players short of fielding a full NWFA roster.

snip...
At 5-feet-2 and 115 pounds, Tessier looked a bit on the small side, but some of the men who turned out to cheer the women on said football is about more than just size.

"I think the agility, flexibility and higher tolerance for pain that women have will definitely be beneficial for them to play football," said Jason Rogers, a friend of Jackson's.

47. the lyrics to..."You Dropped A Bomb On Me".....by The Gap Band...
:headbang:

Gap Band IV ~~ Total Experience ~~ 1982
Charlie Wilson~Lonnie Simmons~Rudy Taylor

You were the one that changed my world...
You were the one for me...
You lit the fuse...I stand accused...
You were the first for me...
But you turned me out...baby...

You dropped a bomb on me...baby...
You dropped a bomb on me...but you turned me on...baby....
You dropped a bomb on me...baby...
You dropped a bomb on me....

You were my thrills...you were my pills...
You dropped a bomb on me...
You turn me out...you turn me on...
You turned me loose...then you turned me wrong....

You dropped a bomb on me...baby...
You dropped a bomb on me....

Just like Adam and Eve...said you’d set me free...
You took me to the sky...I’d never been so high...
You were my pills...you were my thrills..
You were my hope...baby...you were my smoke...

You dropped a bomb..hey...babe...
You dropped a bomb on me...

We were in motion...felt like an ocean...
You were the one for me...
You were the first explosion...turned out to be corrosion...
You were the first for me...
But you turned me out...baby...

You dropped a bomb on me...baby...
You dropped a bomb on me...
You dropped a bomb on me...baby...
You dropped a bomb on me...

I...I...I...
I...I...I...won’t forget it...
I...I...I...
I...I...I...won’t forget it...

You dropped a bomb on me...baby...
You dropped a bomb on me...
You dropped a bomb on me...baby
You dropped a bomb on me...

I...I...I....
I...I...I won’t forget it....
I...I...I....
I...I...I won’t forget it....

You turned me out...you turned me on...
And then you dropped me to the ground...
You dropped a bomb on me...

You turned me out...you turned me on...
And then you dropped me to the ground...
You dropped a bomb on me...

49. in order to parody rbnyc (she knows I love her terribly)
Silly thing that drives me absolutely up a freaking tree number 1208: Referring to Frankenstein's Monster as Frankenstein. This is simply not accurate. It bothers the ever-loving crap out of me. I can't stand it when people do it, especially on a TV ad or in print or in some official capacity where there ought to be some type of quality control. Frankenstein is the scientist who created the monster, the monster is Frankenstein's Monster!

Thank you.

(I used her original text and then revised as needed)

pasting into internet job site applications over and over and over and over again this past week after being laid off (I've removed my name and contact information, and the names of my employers, for obvious reasons)! One of my sources for the paper I'm working on. I'm doing the Works Cited page even though I've only just fininished my first paragraph. I figure that if I don't use one of sources I list, that I can just go in and delete it.

The risks involved with using an external contractor to manage information processing facilities should be identified in advance, and appropriate controls agreed with the contractor and incorporated into the contract.

And what the hell am I doing posting on DU when I should be working?
