In A Recent Episode Of "MAIL CALL"... The One On The Submarine...
the depth gauge was covered up and the viewers were told that the submarine's depth capability was a secret. Why should this be a secret? If they hadn't made such a big deal about keeping it secret, I wouldn't have really cared... but NOW I WANT TO KNOW!! How deep can the sub go? -- Allen

Was it a Seawolf? On Edit: Secret because if an enemy knows the maximum depth they know the depth to set depth charges for.

300 meters is the test depth, and 450 meters is the collapse depth. Based on public sources, but not, obviously, the final word on things.

4. It's a secret because knowing how far down a sub can go can give
you an immediate map of where it can go, or more accurately, could be.
