I puked again today--DU diagnosis?
A few times. For a couple of hours, every time I moved positions, especially if I bent down and stood up, I would become terribly dizzy and nauseated. I finally went home early from work because I narrowly avoided barfing into a customer's bag.

You might remember, a couple weeks ago I puked and some blood came out. There was no blood this time, so I'm assuming I'd just suffered a broken capillary. There have been other days since then when I've felt icky but haven't actually thrown up.

I've got a low fever, 100.9 (my normal body temp is about 97.3). I don't know if this might be related at all but I've also had a nagging dry cough for a few weeks.

What worries me is how long the upset stomach has been going on. Should I be worried enough to see a doctor?

Tucker

5. Sweetie, see a Doc, please!
You have gone too long with this...especially with a fever. Nothing could be as bad as what you are probably imagining by now. See someone, tomorrow and you will feel better...I promise!

6. My Doc (Doctor Jim) has always said
that anything under 100 is your business, anything over 100 is my business. If your normal is 97.3 rather than 98.6 you run fairly cool.

14. Inner ear infection?
I am not a medical person but you should seek medical help.

You are probably freaking out and afraid to go thinking you will be diagnosed with something horrifying... but you may have one whopper of a sinus infection that has now invaded your inner ear.

The throwing up blood could be stuff that was in your system from the sinus infection (drainage not to be gross)--whatever it is it isn't worth screwing with and is probably something less than terminal!

Good luck and please seek a Dr's opinion!

20. I'm not freaking out over the diagnosis
I'm freaking out over the prospect of possibly having to get gastroscoped (ick! ick! ick!) and over the fact that my medical card for May hasn't come yet. (Even if it had, going to the doctor isn't free for people on medical assistance anymore, and I am watching every dime).

24. You'll be okay. Had my annual EGD two weeks ago and sailed
through. It is good when it's over though. I hope you are calling the doctor or going to ER this evening though. Right now, I'm on an every other day hydration check for emesis. You can very easily get dehydrated and/or mess with your potassium with serious and lasting damage to your heart. Please take care, Laura.

18. If you're puking up blood
There could be an upper GI problem. If you start having bloody stools, that indicates a lower GI problem. Either way, I think you should see your doctor. Good luck to you!

22. Just got off the phone with the Medicare nurseline
Edited on Mon May-03-04 08:37 PM by AlienGirl
She said it's probably nothing, and that throwing up two weeks ago has thing to do with throwing up today, because I have not thrown up daily in the meantime. Even though I've felt nauseated every day, in her words, "An upset tummy is not the same as throwing up."

She had the usual condescending, you're-so-poor-you-must-be-dumb tone Medicare nurses always have.

25. I know what you mean about the nurses,
"She had the usual condescending, you're-so-poor-you-must-be-dumb tone Medicare nurses always have."

I've been treated that way, too in an emergency room not too long ago. Thanks to lay offs and even though my husband now works 56 hours a week and I work 40, we couldn't afford our healthcare anymore. I freaked out in an emergency room because the nurses were all treating us like I was a piece of sh*t. I pointed out to them that only a year before I made a whole lot more money than they make and that I had a much more prestigious position than a frigging nurses aide. The nasty b*tches didn't know what to say. :)

Anyway, I agree with everyone else, go somewhere and be seen and just go in there with an attitude and don't take any sh*t from any of them. You have to get checked out, please!

26. is it a stress thing???
I think I remember you posting something the other day about some financial stresses going on. You might need to relieve some of that stress. Don't let it get you down!!! That stuff will work out and all will be good before too long. Go have some fun, enjoy a stiff drink, or take a hot bath, something to try to ease your mind a little bit. But to your question, it would probably be a good idea to see a doctor if it has been going on for a couple of weeks...Kevin.
