I didn't know that Leno and Letterman were once good friends
and they fell out when Leno was named to continue the Tonight Show.

Letterman thinks Leno sabotaged him, and stole the job.

He who laughs last............

2. Oh yeah...
Leno used to be one of Letterman's most frequent guests in the old days. He'd come on with a tv guide and make fun of stories on upcoming shows. His favorite was hitting on "evil twin" storylines.

3. oh yeah
Leno used to be a frequent guest on Letterman when Leno was just subbing for Carson. They go back to the late 70's comedy club circuit together. Both appeared on Carson a lot back in '77, '78 and on.

Leno is a smarmy little prick. Always loved Letterman, whom I started follwing when he had a daytime show on NBC back in the summer of '80.

5. Dave used to have Jay as a semi-regular guest
on his old NBC show. I thought, at the time, Leno was pretty damned funny.

He's tailored his humor for that "middle America" that Johnny owned.....seems tired and formulaic now, not to mention UNFUNNY.

6. Leno's okay but Dave is better
You should check out the book The Late Shift by Bill Carter. Details all the twists and turns the networks did when Carson retired and had to replace him. Very good behind the scenes reading.

8. Leno also feels that Dave stole a lot of his schtick from him...
the wry take on Middle America and pop culture. Who cares? Letterman is much better at it.

9. Amy Goodman was on Dennis Miller tonight
watching it, I was thinking that Leno will meet Miller's fate.

11. I should think Miller has plenty of cash
he's such a dipshit -- probably squandered it all investing in Bush.
