Has anyone here at DU ever done anything nice for you in the 'real world'?

I've got two that I know of:

1) Someone was nice enough to donate in my name which gave me back my gold star (which I felt quite naked without)...

2) EWagner tried to help me get Basil adopted. I thought that was very classy!

How about you?

8. No. Never. Not once.

Except for DUers like Ramsey, GOPisEvil, VelmaD and scads of others who let me stay in their homes, fed me, got me drunk and kept me company during my cross-country slog last summer/fall. Every city I went to, in America and Europe, across more than 60,000 miles, there were DUers to hang with. RogueTrooper in London watching baseball> Fuggedaboudit.

Except for DUers beyond count who help me tweak and improve my essays, who without fail respond to calls for research help at a second's notice.

But no, really, nothing. DUers suck.

14. Yeah, I know what you mean...

DUers suck. Except for people like you and SOteric and DarkPhenyx and shortbus and God_bush_and_cheney and Aristus and your momma (and a bunch more whose feelings I hope aren't hurt by being left out) who make me laugh and make me think and pick me up when I'm down and remind me every day that I'm not in this alone. That there are thousands of people out there just like me who care and are doing their part to fix this mess.

And of course the local Austin folks like flush_bush and GOPisEvil and sonias who keep me from being a total recluse. :)

consoled me in my grief over my father's death.

Also those who were so kind to me when we THOUGHT my husband had cancer (he didn't, thank goodness).

The wonderful Bertha Venation who offered me a place to stay when I thought I would be heading to DC.

Will Pitt bought me a beer. Or I bought him one. Or something--nevertheless, I enjoyed his and Sal316's company!

19. Plenty O' Times.

Susang and mkuhl come out to see our band all the time. They buy me beers and mkuhl sneaks me smokes on a consistant basis. They have bought me dinner. mkuhl gave me the greatest deal ever on a guitar that I bought for my son. Susang, mkuhl, Mrs. XNASA and myself have become good friends. We even double-dated last Saturday night.

Prolesunited has been out to see the band and has even posted images of us on her website. She also brought us a box of delicious chocolates last Christmas.

forradalom (where has she been?) gave us her copy of HC's book.

I know I'm forgetting a lot of kind DU'ers who have also done nice things for me.

So the answer is an emphatic "Yes!".

24. I have met many DUers in the real world

in Chicago and Bloomington and D.C. and San Diego and hopefully in Florida this summer. I've also exchanged e-mails and telephone calls with a number of others. Their kind and generous spirits are unparalleled and I am glad to count several of them as friends now. :grouphug:

However, their is that one special DUer who has given me his love and that is very nice indeed. :loveya:
