Computer Keyboard question?
The keyboard on one of my computers has stopped working..I've rebooted, replaced it with another, etc and it just doesn't work. Can't type characters, nada....

Any suggestions? BTW: I'm running Professional 2000 and the mouse works fine.

2. Hmmm...
Well, if a DIFFERENT keyboard fails to work, too, most likely you have blown out your PS/2 Keyboard port. As this is a motherboard component, you might as well think of it as unfixable. I suggest getting a USB keyboard as that ought to still work even with the PS/2 port zotzed.

3. Did it ever get unplugged and plugged back in...
while the computer was turned on?

You may have fried the keyboard port on the motherboard. That's bad.

But if you buy a USB keyboard (the flat type connector, as opposed to the round PS/2 variety), you should be fine.

And USB peripherals can be plugged/unplugged with the power on, no problem.

5. Is it showing up in your bios?
That's the first step. If not, you might have a bad port. Look for cracked solder on the motherboard.

6. Try uninstall/reinstall.
Or find a different driver?
Had a similar experience and a new keyboard fixed it.

11. Try this first.
completely unplug your computer from the power (not just turn it off)...wait one minute and turn it back on.
