that's even worse than being a Man U fan.

Stand if you hate Man U.

Jealousy is fine. J'taime Henry! And I love Bob Pies too, in spite of his facial hair. But you're right they are thugs. Still love them though.

31. Thugs? Nah they're prawn-sandwich eaters like Man U fans
That's the thing. They tend to be glory hunters and what's more they seem to think nobody has noticed this little fact yet.

I've never liked the Arsehole, sorry I meant arsenal (always get the 2 mixed up for some reason) as I always found their fans to be little more than glorified Sheffield United fans who just couldn't stand losing.

48. Glory hunters? Arsenal was crap for decades.
Anyone who has been an Arsenal fan more than fifteen years isn't a glory hunter or a prawn-sandwich eater.

It's not the fans' fault they finally got a decent team to support.

51. Rubbish
You had the double in 1971, the FA cup in 1979, league cup winners 1987, have been in the top flight for goodness knows how many years. Arsenal have never been a team in trouble. It makes me laugh when I hear this sort of crap from arsehole supporters as they quite plainly don't know what it is really like to supoort a football team on the skids.

52. Just because Arsenal is the only team never to have been relegated

doesn't make their fans glory hunters.

I suppose to be a real football fan you have to find a team that loses as often as possible. Otherwise, it just isn't exciting enough.

Anyway, I play for a side that always loses so I am familiar with that particular joy.

29. Hey, TIB
What the hell happened to The Owls?
When I was living in the UK Trevor Francis was managing them and they were pretty good.
They had Waddle, Hirst and Carlton Palmer back then.

Always had a soft spot for SW because Owls are my favorite creature.
It's sad to see them fall on hard times.

Do you live in Sheffield?

30. You don't want to know
We are currently mid-table in Nationwide Division 2. About 4 years ago we just fell apart in the same way that Manchester City did before us, Derby County have done just recently and more amusingly, in the same way that Leeds look set to do.

We still get in the news as Ken Bates wants to take us over. I've got mixed feelings about that beacause, although he would give the club a kick up the arse in many good ways he has also promised to sack the current manager Chris Turner, who is not all that bad really, it's just that Ken Bates doesn't thinik goalies can make managers. The rumour is that he wants Dennis Wise to takeover.

And yes, I grew up in Sheffield and remember well the days when we beat Man U in the league Cup final whilst still in the old 2nd division, finished third in the old 1st division the next season before reaching 2 cup finals the season after that (including beating the pigs at wembley in the semi). I moved down to Essex the week before Paulo Di Canio pushed over the ref in his last game for the club (which incidentally we won 1-0 against the arsehole :-) ) The rest, as they say is history.

37. Chasing the Essex girls, huh?
You're not in Billericay, are you TIB?
When I was working on the construction of the new British Library, which is right next to the beautiful St. Pancras station in London, I worked with a guy from Billericay.
What a character. He would talk entirely in rhyming slang and say "Know what I mean?" at the end of every sentence.
I didn't have a clue what he was talking about most of the time.
In fact, all of the Essex guys I worked with were a little odd.
I put it down to the long commute into London they had every morning.

Why'd ya leave Yorkshire for? I love Yorkshire.
My wife used to study in Harrogate so I've spent a lot of time in Yorkshire and I think it's beautiful, especially up there around Harrogate.
My only memories of Sheffield however was of nearly being run down by a tram there.
It was 1992 and I was backpacking around Britain. I never knew Sheffield had trams.....until I came face to face with one. :scared:

As for Dennis Wise, he's doing pretty well with Millwall so I can see where he would be sought after but shit, Ken Bates?
I can see how he could be beneficial for the Owls but he sure brings plenty of baggage.
Anyway, I hope your Owls find their way back up again.
Leeds I never liked so I don't care about them.
I hope they get sent to the Vauxhall League.

Cheers Geezer!

Anyone got the lyrics to "Billericay Dickie" by Ian Dury?

And the trams were new in Sheffield in 1992. One of Mr Blunkett's stupid ideas when he was running the city (he's currently home secretary and doing a dreadful job)

39. Ian Durie and the Blockheads?
"Hit me with your rhythm stick....Hit Me....Hit me......in Billericay..."

Is that it?

Well, if I never saw the tram coming, I dunno how Blunkett would cope.

I am shocked about this ID card he wants to bring in.
Shit! The Labour Party is just as bad, if not worse than the Tories.

47. This is the song in question
http://www.lyricsbox.com/ian-dury-and-the-blockheads-lyrics-billericay-dickie-p29374l.html

good evening i'm from essex
in case you couldn't tell
my given name is Dickie, I come from Billericay
and I'm doing very well

had a love affair with Nina
in the back of my Cortina
a seasoned up hyena could not have been more obscener
she took me to the cleaners
and other misdemeanours
but I got right up between her
rum and her Ribena

well, you ask Joyce and Vicki
if candy-floss is sticky
I'm not a blinking thicky
I'm Billericay Dickie
and i'm doing very well

I bought a lot of brandy
when I was courting Sandy
took eight to make her randy
and all I had was shandy
another thing with Sandy
what often came in handy
was passing her a 'Mandy'
she didn't half go bandy

so you ask Joyce and Vicki
if I ever took the mickey
I'm not a flipping thicky
I'm billeicay dickie
and I'm doing very well

I'd rondez-vouez with Janet
quite near the Isle of Thanet
she looked more like a gannet
she wasn't half a prannet
her mother tried to ban it
her father helped me plan it
and when I captured Janet she bruised her pomegranet

so you ask Joyce and Vicki
if i ever shaped up tricky
I'm not a blooming thicky
I'm Billericay Dickie
and I'm doing very well

you should never hold a candle if you don't know where it's been
the jackpot is in the handle on a normal fruit machine

so you ask Joyce and Vicki
who's their brickie
I'm not a common thicky
I'm Billericay Dickie
and I'm doing very well

I know a lovely old toe-rag obliging and noblesse
kindly, charming shag from Shoeburyness

my given name is Dickie
I come from Billericay
I thought you'd never guess

so you ask Joyce and Vicki
a pair of squeaky chickies
I'm not a flaming thicky I'm Billericay Dickie
and I'm doing very well

oh golly, oh gosh come and lie on the couch
with a nice bit of posh from Burnham-on-Crouch

my given name is Dickie, I come from Billericay
and I ain't a sloutch

so you ask Joyce and Vicki
about Billericay Dickie
I ain't an effin' thicky
you ask Joyce and Vicki
and I'm doing very well

I hate Man U.

When I lived in London I supported Millwall, who it just so happens will be facing Man United in the FA Cup Final.

I hope we kick their butts.
Although to be honest, I'm not very confident, especially with Millwall playing like crap as of late.

27. Yeah
We have a reputation for hooliganism and a lot of it is warranted.
Millwall fans can be crazy at times.

When I first moved to London, a guy I worked with who is a Millwall fan asked me if I wanted to go see a Millwall game with him.
This guy was huge. He had tatts all over him and looking at him you would immediately think he was one rough brute. A football hooligan.
But in reality, the opposite was true, he was one of the nicest, gentlest people I've ever met.

So I go to the game with him and it's Millwall vs Crystal Palace, who are along with West Ham, Millwalls arch nemesis.
I was more than a little scared as I was sure I'd end up in a fight.
But nothing happened and it was a lot of fun.

In the end, I would often go to Millwall games and not once did I see any trouble.
I wish I still lived in London. There is nothing like attending a soccer game in Britain, that's for sure.

Well not recently but it's the thought that counts.

I can't even bring myself to hate the gooners at the moment. They're too fucking good.

I console myself by clinging to the idea that since few of their players are English it doesn't really count.

They tend to go on about how Spurs play pretty football but what use is that if they don't win?

I never understood why they couldn't accept George Graham though. I mean goodness, I'd take a piggy bastard like Dave Bassett if I thought they could get us out of our current plight.

Oh, and if you want to know what London team I tend to prefer, it's West Ham. Admittedly I am surrounded by Hammers down here in Essex but they are a good bunch really. It's just not quite the same as Sheffield Wednesday!
