Colors that don't run

Anyone here know if one can obtain inkjet cartridge ink that won't run off a bumper sticker? Does xylene based ink work in injet printers? Pardon my ignorance.

First, I must say that you chose a very creative title.

You'd want to avoid using xylene in inkjets for a few reasons:
1) Xylene is a known carcinogen and is extremely flammable. I wouldn't really want it in my home, even if I could get it there.

2) Modern inkjet printers use water-based inks. Xylene is not (I think it's a type of alcohol based ink). It can easily damage the pin heads on the printhead (you'd have to have solvent resistant joins on the print head to prevent damage from the solvents).

So, really, it'd be easiest to use one of the online services that allows you to custom design bumper stickers if custom bumper stickers is what you're after.

I've had bumper stickers up for 10 months. The ink has NOT faded at all and the car has been through more rain and snowstorms than Michael Jackson through Disneyland... (the printer's inks will last up to 60 years, depending on paper quality and if it's stored right, kept out of direct sun. Most inkjet inks, under sunlight, will fade after a few weeks.)
