Spurs vs Lakers moment of clarity

A good team beats a group of talented individuals.

The Lakers have so much talent, but don't always play like a team.

The Spurs are a team who have some great talent (Tony Parker is killing them).

I'm not a fan of either (GO HEAT!!), but the Lakers look like they're in trouble.

Just my humble opinion.

1. Amen
Although, I'd say they don't have that much talent.

Barkley said it right tonight. Lakers have Shaq and Kobe, Spurs have Duncan and Parker. That's a wash.

After that, the Spurs are so much better than the Lakers.

Yeah, Payton and Malone are Hall of Famers, but they're old Hall of Famers. George Gervin is a HoF player, but you don't see us suiting him up.

Malone has no hope of containing Duncan, and nobody on the Lakers team can even remotely hope to contain Parker.

We, on the other hand, play team defense, which means we can contain everyone on the Lakers for most of the game. Notice they didn't score a field goal the last 5 minutes tonight.

If the Lakers don't somehow pull off game 3, it's a sweep, and the Spurs have a two week break waiting for Sacramento and Minnesota to finish off their series.

2. Style vs Substance
The Lakers are undoubtedly talented, they just get so caught up in the petty and the ungraceful they lose cohesion.

Lakers are selfish individuals playing ball and the Spurs are a team of respectful players that don't bad-mouth opponents in public and squabble with their coach.

Which is fine by me....

3. Absolutely.
A basketball team has to work together well, above all. They not only do better, but they're a lot more fun to watch, too.

The Kings also are a true team.
