I hate piercings and tats, but I've pretty much gotten used to them now.

They do seeem to be getting so mundane that nobody wearing them seems the least bit "alternative" or whatever. If not for the shock value, why wear them.

I guess I'm just one of those people who thinks the body looks its best in its most natural state possible. All that stuff seems like needless ornamentation on a remarkable creation.

I also like women with less makeup and jewelry.

Of course you could call me a hypocrite on this since I HATE seeing women with unshaven legs and pits and those little mustaches. I can handle little or no makeup, but I don't care for dreads - they look filthy and disgusting. I like the various permutations of cornrows, though.

I could go on and on... I must be getting sleepy.

The drivers are often the most obnoxious ass holes on the road, they pollute, and the gas the people buy helps fund terrorists.

Who are these people with their phones glued to their ears? Does anybody really, really need to carry on a conversation with someone who isn't there while shopping?

But, my real pet peeve is the guy at the airport who carries on an extended business conversation, in a full voice, for 20 minutes, as if what he does is SOOOOOOO important that it can't wait until he lands and gets back to the office. Even worse, the guy who does it after we've boarded the plane. Of course, the world will come to an end if you don't get that last message back to the office, you rude, officious, arrogant jerk!!! (I told you it was a pet peeve.)

between loud booming "music" from cars and people on cell phones. Both annoyances emanate from rude people. I really hate being awakened from a peaceful sleep by someone driving down my street with his car stereo blasting away. And please, if you're washing your car, don't think that everyone in the neighborhood wants to hear your "music." We don't want to hear it, and we don't want you to ruin your hearing by playing this crap so damned loud!

Actually just inconsiderate or bad drivers in general get on my nerves.

How difficult is it to remember that if you're in the middle or left lane that you shouldn't pull *all the way out* to the intersection, so that anyone attempting to turn right can see oncoming traffic?

How much difference does it make to zigzag in and out of traffic? Seems much more reasonable to drive safely and be a few minutes late to me.

Why do people buy Hummers? Do they want to pretend they're in the military? Do they just like fugly vehicles? Do they think it makes them more powerful? IMO they just look really, really, very stupid.

Why do people blocking a turn lane not look in the rearview mirror, to see if maybe pulling up into the vast amount of space they left in front of them might enable someone behind them to be able to make the turn while the arrow's still green?

Sheesh... inconsiderate people -- *that* should have been on your poll -- but I guess it's not a 'modern-day' phenomenon, so...

Believe it or not, a man was in line for Communion on Easter Sunday and his cellphone went off. It kept playing part of Ode to Joy by Beethoven and then he had a conversation with someone the whole length of the church.

3. SUVs and the mannerless gits who park them in 'Compact' designated spaces in such a manner as to completely obscure the lines of sight for the compact cars trying to evacuate a parking space.

1. Who am I kidding, my number one pet peeve is mannerless gits in all their charming embodiments. Society has gotten steadily more and more rude and self-obsessed. It used to be a standard of behaviour that a person would ask politely if you "...realise you're in the wrong line?" at the market. Now that's the rare exception and too often people shout a terse "What the fuck's the matter with you, can't you read?!" From the things that pass for entertainment, to the demise of sportsmanship, to the way that political and social debate has disintegrated into a series of mudslinging shouting matches, the modern day phenomenon I find most annoying is rudeness, selfishness and meanness of spirit.

...when someone walked by, looking at me, starts talking AT ME about god knows what, and when I start to ask what the hell they are talking about, I realize that they are still yammering on and have not even SEEN me (though looking right AT me)while balthering endlessly on one of those tiny headets that you can't see from every angle.

SO annoying. I thought those were supposed to be for drivers so they could keep their hands on the wheel - turns out half the people yak away while walking. I really wish that they would absentmindedly meander into a bottomless pit somewhere.

Can you imagine if one of these people was a family member? I would divorce a spouse like that.
