SCHWEIZER: She indicated to us that, in that 2000 election, as you remember, George W. Bush was being counseled by a lot of people to aggressively go after Al Gore, concerning Bill Clinton and other issues. And he was constantly saying I'm a uniter and not a divider. She talked to us before September 11th and after September 11th, and what she pointed out was that after September 11th, he really believed that the reason he made the decision not to be a divider but try to be a uniter in that campaign was this sense that he felt national unity was going to be so important. Eight months after his inauguration, with the tragedy of September 11th, that ended up being true. She thinks that there is definitely something deep and personal and spiritual at work, when it came to how he was handling himself in the 2000 election.
