Cheers, DUers from London!
Hey y'all,

Taking a break from the States right now....

Here's some quick observations:

1) It's pretty cold and rainy, but the sun fights through every now and then
2) UK ladies are very nice... ;-)
3) Why did I have to fly all the way over here to get real news? Between the BBC and Sky News, Bush & Co. damn-near look like war criminals in Iraq. Nobody bought that appearance on Arab TV. They keep replaying the fact that Bush didn't apologize himself, Scott McClellan did.
4) My Verizon phone is useless...Can you hear me now? I didn't think so...(Qualcomm keeps pushin CDMA (even in Iraq) when over 80% of the rest of the world is GSM)
5) THE DOLLAR IS WORTHLESS!! The fist time I was here, the exchange was 1 British pound was worth $1.50 now it's damn-near 1 pound is worth $1.79 (I don't wanna even talk about Euros)

Best wishes,
KeepItReal

1. Strangely: Sky news comes from the same stable as
Fox news.

2. I guess they don't have to wrap themselves in the Stars and Stripes
They (Sky News) seem like legitimate news. Very professional.

I think the British seem to be very well-informed and educated, thus they may not be too succeptible (sp?) to the B.S. propaganda wrapped in a pretty package Faux News (and now CNN) would put out.

13. TV news is regulated
so that it must be neutral or else.

In fact if there is one thing that our tory party love to do it is accuse the BBC of being biased to the left when it is being anything but. The BBC was actually considered the most pro-Iraq war of all the UK TV news channels.

7. Thanks for the greetings!
If you dream to visit the U.K., I'm sure you'll get to do it when you have the chance.

I miss the heat and humidity of Louisiana! Not the mosquitos, though...

Unfortunately prices are really bad for travel to Europe. However, airlines are kicking out discounts since not alot of American folks are travelling, I guess.

8. Will be over soon
The job is sending me to London for a week. I had thought to hop over to Holland for a visit with some old mates, but the airfares were too dear for a couple days. So I guess I'll while away my time in pommyland.

14. I checked
It would've been a hundred quid, both ways. Seemed too much for a couple days. But then, perhaps the poor, frugal backpacker of years past within me was speaking.

19. uhmm How cool is Southwest?
Expect no legroom and you'll have to pay for drinks and sandwiches. However Ryanair and Easyjet are excellent ways to get across Europe.

So, where are you going with EasyJet ? .
