Edited on Thu May-06-04 03:25 PM by chaska
I used to get them at Taco Del Mar in Seattle and loved 'em, but these I just had at a little hole in the wall place called Taco Taco (in Asuza, CA) are the best I've had yet.

These were made with little three inch steamed corn tortillas (two for each taco) with some moist crumbled fish, and topped with pico de gallo, lettuce and a thin tartar sauce. I added some of their really good hot salsa on top. With rice and beans it was only $4. Very cheap in LA.

Everybody goes all yuck this and gag that when I mention fish tacos. Oh god, if they only knew what they're missing.

9. MMM!!!
I've had 'em with cabbage (love it), but not with avacado. That just sounds so very decadent. I'm droolin'.

11. We have Roberto's Taco Shop here in Las Vegas...
They're also in the L. A. area and a few restaurants in Florida. They have some absolutely KILLER authentic Mexican food, and fish tacos are on the menu along with shrimp and fish burritos. The fish burritos are very close to the fish tacos you describe except that they use breaded fish fillets of good quality.

The shrimp burritos are made with medium-size shrimp and you get about 10 of them in a $4.50 burrito. Plus there is seasoned rice and sauteed onions, peppers and tomatoes with optional hot sauce. These things are just to die for.

Sadly, I have just experienced the gout attack from hell, so all foods that are high in purine content are out for a good while. Of course, that includes seafood, oats and legumes; three things I really enjoy. :(

20. July? That is when the 'Old Pueblo' is called the Baked Pueblo!
And the monsoon brings humidity about then so you can forget about that 'dry heat' crap!

But do check out La Salsa Grill! And La Parilla Suiza too. Nobody cooks in Tucson in July. It's dine out or take out, cuz everybody's cooking in Tucson in July

In all seriousness, los "Tacos de Tio Israel" at Milwaukee's Cempazuchi restaurant (fried perch, breaded in blue corn meal, with cabbage slaw and chipotle mayonnaise) are MAGNIFICO!
