Bob Mould...the missing link between Lou Reed and Neil Young
1). He writes songs that are just as good, and in some cases better, than either Neil or Lou.

2). He's got all the rage of Lou Reed but it's more focused.

3). As a guitarist, he's the equal of either Lou or Neil. Lou is all feel and limited technique, Neil rides the fence between the two extremes, but Mould can hit you right between the eyes with BOTH.

4). Neil had "Zuma" and "Ragged Glory," Lou had "Rock & Roll Animal" and "The Blue Mask," Bob had "Black Sheets Of Rain" and Sugar's "Copper Blue" (How can you not be blown away by "Hoover Dam" or "Black Sheets Of Rain" or "The Hanging Tree?")

1. Bob is really smart and very cool.
I got to know him a little when I was producing wrestling television.

An eccentric genius, but surprisingly down to earth and completely without pretense.

2. I never liked any of Mould's post-husker stuff....
Husker stands atop the mountain of the gods in my eyes. My favorite group ever to put music to tape.

But neither he nor Hart have lived up to that legend.

My geeky 17 year old self actually got a little weepy when they broke up. That band got me through a lot of hard times.
