I have some other close polls to post in a bit. I'm bored and suddenly I came up with a few.

PKD and Kurt both have a similar style and interests, but approaching from two distinct ways...but I don't think I've ever met a fan of one author that wasn't a fan of the other author either. Similar level of output too. Seemed fair to me, actually. ;-)

and drive over there and smack you, Kef. If you put the winner up against Harlan Ellison, I just might do it.

But Vonnegut, for me, and only because none of his books read like he spent a year on the first ten chapters and ten minutes on the last one. PKD often disappointed me -- I understand why his books mostly came out that way, but they were still often disappointing.

which may be unfair, because I've read every book of his and none by PKD.

But Vonnegut is the ONLY writer even associated with SciFi that I can tolerate... and I more than tolerate him: I adore him.
