6. Like most Toyotas in the world are made in the USA
Newer Toyotas heads are so small they cook the oil and you have to run synthetic oil or change the oil every 2500 miles or have premature motor failure. I've seen dozens that have eaten engines prematurely. My girlfriends mom's Echo is a Japanese built junkbox that makes a Neon seem Mercedeslike. Also the Japanesemade Toyota 4Runners want to tip over easier than a Explorer. Toyota's are overrated whereever they're built.

11. I've had ZERO problems with my Camry
and it was built in Georgetown Kentucky. I know all Toyotas are not made here but people think all Fords and Chevys are when actually a lot of them sold here were made in Mexico and Canada.

"American" cars tend to break more often. There's no excuse for the "importted car" parts to cost more since whether you have a Ford or a Toyota, the parts still come from China.

5. Mopars are the only worthwhile domestic cars, especialy now they have the
Hemi hooked up to a Mercedes tranny.I don't know how Ford stays in business, most seem to be shot at 80k. Jeep 4.0's will bury most Toyota's for longevity, I've seen a bunch of them over 300k miles.

7. I have a '95 Escort approaching 140K miles
And it's running like a champ. I've had some work done on it, but even if I spend a couple grand a year on repairs, it is WAY cheaper than getting a new car.

And I love how it sips gas.

I did tear up the clutch on the steep hills in San Fancisco, though...

9. I Used to Be a Plymouth Man
My family had a '59 Savoy and a '67 Fury wagon (one of the vehicles that I learned to drive on). Through the years, I had a '66 VIP (that I bought for $15), a '70 Barracuda, two '81 Horizons (his & hers with my second wife), an '84 Reliant, and the '93 Sundance that my present wife and I bought new that's still going strong after 11 years and 107,000 miles.

I was sorry to see Plymouth go.... But I've also had a '73 Dodge Dart Swinger and a '79 Chrysler LeBaron, so my Mopar roots go deep.

10. Acura
Then best car I ever owned, was an Acura Integra. 145K miles with nary a problem.

I currently own a '95 Dodge Caravan with a Mitsubishi 3.0L engine and a '03 Mazda Tribute with a 3.0L DOHC Ford engine that was engineered by Cosworth. The Cosworth engine is the same one that comes standard in the Jaguar X-Series.

My point is.....it's kinda difficult to even put my finger on what kind of vehicle the Tribute is.....Is it a Mazda? Is it a Ford since it's essentially the same as an Escape? It's a great car, but I can't really tell you who's the manufacturer.

My least favorite? Chevy. Cheap interiors. Poor fit. 50 year old engine technology. And plug ugly to boot.

12. I drive a Ford, but I'll probably go Chevy next time
That is, if Chevrolet has the product I want. GM employs a lot of people in my home town.

My Ford is 4 years old, 52,000 miles, zero problems, except for two recalls that barely inconvenienced me.

17. I have always and will always drive a Ford
My Grandpa was an engineer there, two of my uncles worked there and I like their cars. Since becoming an adult, I have not purchase anything but Fords. I drove an 85 Mustang (bought in 88), a 92 Probe (new) and am currently driving a 98 Escort (bought in 01). I am hoping to buy a new Focus in the next year or two.

At least until the domestic makers figure out how to make a car that doesn't SUCK!!!

I love Honda and Toyota, especially... and the new Nissans are looking good!

On edit... I currently drive a '95 Dodge Intrepid with 185,000 miles on it, so what am I bitching about, really?

20. I'm an Infiniti customer for life.
The dealers treat me like a king when I go for service, even though my little G-20 is 10 years old. Free loaners, great service. Of course, given that Infinitis are expensive, I'll probably have to buy used ones. But, they're great cars, and very well-made.

25. I'm a Mopar man.
Ever hear the phrase, "Ya dance with the girl that ya took to the prom."?

My dad worked for 30 years for Chrysler. Put good food on the table, kept a roof over our heads, and helped pay for my college education.

Only other car I will consider will be a Chevy, or possibly a Cadillac. (Those CTS's are saaa-weet lookin'!). But that's only because I had uncles and in-laws that worked or still work for GM.

Ford? Nah. Butt ugly.

Next vehicle will probably be a Jeep Liberty. I think.
