Got a spouse/sig. other who shares your politics, but hates when you...
...yell at the TV? My wife didn't appreciate it last night when I told a gentleman from Fox News to remove his tongue from a very personal place on Shrub. (The one who's running the special to "counter" Nightline's show from last week.)

1. Don't yell.
Here is what I do: I keep an arsenal of tiny stuffed animals on the couch that I lob at the TV anytime I happen to see a Faux News bit.

(Even tho' I have Fucks blocked on my cable, the evil thing still seems to make it thru the filter. No kidding.)

2. Yep :). We finally compromised
He tolerates my yelling at Shrub and his supporters and I tolerate him yelling at the ACC refs during college basketball games.

3. She's learned to tolerate it (sometimes joins in!)
And I've learned to moderate it. Loud voices scare the Chihuahua. Something to do with childhood trauma.

Woof

4. Yes
He hates when I yell at the news (or anything), but it's okay for him to yell at sports (or anything).
Not a two way street around here.

5. Oh yeah
I always get the 'you're going to give yourself an ulcer' lecture. :eyes:

I should turn that around on him after he's been on the phone with his mom or sis... that always turns him into a grump for days! But since I don't carry grudges, I'm never thinking about it when he does that so I just let him vent.

6. My S.O. is very much to the left on most every issue...
but somewhat apolitical on the whole...

She doesn't allow me to talk politics... says she'll sit on my face to shut me up.

...so the other night, I lay down in the middle of the floor and start to Bush-Bash like there's no tomorrow

7. My husband tolerates it
My 18 year old son (who cast his first ballot in the Democratic primary this March) tells me "they can't hear you Mom!"

8. Sort of
I'm required to pause the VCR before unleashing any rants. (We watch all our news tape-delayed.)

:-)

But my ranting has diminished over the last few years as I've simply grown exhausted by it all. (And not watching the cable news networks helps reduce the need for yelling at the TV as well.)

9. Actually, she's the one that yelled, and
this was a not-so-small factor in the decline of our marriage. NOTHING could escape her commentary. Even when I agreed, I really just wanted peace and quiet. It was worth every cent, too.
