6. A group of 10-15 people
were there. It started with one woman who yelled something unintelligible. They help up signs saying Fire Rumsfeld and yelled alternately "fire Rumsfeld" and "war criminal". It went on for several minutes before they were escorted out.

13. Actually, it lasted less than a minute, but it made its effect.
And, at least on C-Span, the cameras panned to the demonstrators.

I also found it refreshing that no one in the hearing room commented on the demonstrators. There's usually some nervous laughter and/or some repuke taking the opportunity to say good things about Rummy when such things occur.

8. Wait a minute.WHAT?!?!
Did he really say that? Brought the photos to light to whom? Because you know Shrub is claiming that he knew nothing about them. Just like always, nothing ever seems to make it all the way up the chain of command and to his desk.

10. Interesting
Rummy either:

a. Just lied under oath (is he under oath?) about the picutres and the timelines.

b. Just basically told the nation that Bush is out of the loop about information.

c. Both

15. "a. Just lied under oath (is he under oath?)"
I don't believe he had been sworn in. HOWEVER, from sometime in the Thirties, it became a FELONY to make a false statement before Congress. (I'm going by memory here, and will try to chase that down later). Hopefully when the tide has turned, that will also bite Pinnochio Bush in the butt.

18. He is under oath.
This is big. Or, it should be. Let's see how the media handle this. It is promising that they didn't break away from it on CBS, which is where I was watching it. They focused on the protesters, and at one point showed a close up of the look on Rumsfeld's face. It was great.

11. I predicted that there are video recordings of the torture and I was right
Rumsfeld just admitted it. How could I know this 4 days ago but it was not reported anywhere in the press?

17. Okay, time for me to form an opinion about...
Edited on Fri May-07-04 12:06 PM by chaska
Rummie, and whether he should stay or go. Can someone make the case that if Rummie goes it doesn't have the effect of letting Bush off the hook in this, that it doesn't make it seem - temporarily, at least - that Rumsfeld was the whole problem with all of the administration's problems, and thereby allow Bush to appear as a fresh and innocent as a newborn lamb ready for a second term that will no doubt result in a new American renaisance?

No sarcasm intended (really). Just sceptical (but open minded) that losing Rums doesn't help Bush. I hear that Bush knew about this in January (he lies again). Can anyone confirm that? Maybe we should cancentrate on Bush instead.
