My Norton anthology has a note on the word "sumer" saying it meant "spring." You're an English perfesser, right? So is that what "sumer" really meant? How did we get the word spring for sumer and summer for what follows sumer?

Best ask the bat the crack of which will split or crash, thus spring, a bursting out of water, from deep winter, the which is a different sum (of death), that being thus released, we swim into the fullness of it, the sum for sure, thus "summer." Dig?

4. It's a fancy way of saying 'I'm clueless,' while
