Help! What should I do with stray cat?
I have two cats who don't get along - and I can't let this cat near them because they might catch something from him. I just called my vet and they told me it will cost $200 to get the cat shots and for a checkup.

I'm willing to keep the cat until I find it a good home - but I can't afford all this. I just spent close to $2000 on my last cat - who had kidney disease.

Any suggestions? (I'm in SW Florida Naples)

I've already called the humane society and several other rescue places and they're not much help.

2. Find a cheaper Vet!!!!
I had six rescued dogs taken care of for under 300 dollars (including spaying of two females).

3. OK, here's what you should do.
Go to YahooGroups.com. Put in a search for animal rescue groups in your area. Then post on their message boards to see if you can find the cat another home or a rescue that will take him. You will have to register with Yahoo before you can join the groups.

4. Dunno if this will help, but...
I used to work in an animal shelter, and pretty much every animal that people brought in got put down unless the manager thought it was particularly cute. Then again, we had a terribly overcrowded and underfunded shelter, so it may not be the same in your town. But you might want to look into that if you're thinking of sending it to an animal shelter.

There are "no-kill" shelters here and there; maybe you could try looking for one.

7. Find the nearest old woman
Ask her if she wants the cat.

8. Hey! I resemble that!
I have three cats (all former strays) and I've begun arguing with my husband about taking in another one. I'm not old. Well, not really old. There's an old saying that goes, "A cat will always find the kindest heart in the village". I hope so.
