Who wants to move to Nunavut with me if we lose in November?
That's it - I'm really thinking about it. Getting Canadian sponsorship is hard to do, unless you agree to live somewhere like Yukon Territory or Nunavut. Either one is fine with me - I could live there for 5 years until I get status and then move to Vancouver.

I'm bloody sick of it - and I'd love it if the US had a mass exodus of all it's inteligentia like Germany had when the Nazi's took power. Basically, all of the intelligent Germans left for the US or the UK, being the thugs who took over had no use for smarts. It was a big factor in Nazi Germany's downfall too - they lost the race for "the bomb." Whereas we had all the kickass German-Jewish scientists working on it.

So who's with me?

1. Move to the Yukon. I hear Whitehorse is pretty cool.
Plus you'll either have an NDP or Liberal MP.

3. "cool" would be a very appropriate description
Make it easier and marry a canuck. That's what my wife did.

None of this will really matter when Bush loses in November.

14. Whitehouse has a pretty temperate climate.
It's just in the coastal zone, so not much colder that the BC interior.

4. I am not even thinking about " if we lose "
The thought is depressing but hey I don't blame you , even I have an escape plan if Dubya steals the election again . But I think there is no other that will be safer in the world than the USA if Smirk is re-selected . Although I do have my bunker half way built ...

6. Way ahead of you
Already plan to be in Australia when the Dicktatorship renews itself in Nov.

It would be a pleasure to have you set up shop next to the moof hut there though.

How did you decide on your location ?
So far all that we know is that Sydney is too expensive.

10. I've always wanted to live in Canada
Being a Skier and all. I love Canada, Canadians and consider Vancouver the greatest city on earth. So in 2000, when Democracy died here, I checked into what it would take to get permanent resident status.

It's tough, but if you have a Masters (as I do) and work in tech (as I do) it can be done if you choose to live in a more remote location for a while. Yukon Territory would be OK, but Nunavut sounds interesting as well - mainly becuase there's no shortage of jobs up there.

Live there for 5 years, join the Liberal party, then move to Vancouver.

Besides, baby Nate would grow up speaking French and English - what's not to like about that?

20. With you on the downhill !
Whistler/Blackcomb are the greatest. Almost moved to Squamish (about halfway between Vancouver & Whistler) back when the head spook bush won 88. The climate of Vancouver was a big draw and the ability to sail , scuba , and ski all in such a small radius was fantastic.

7. Got links about the Nunavut and Yukon Territory exceptions?
Right now, my Bush re-election escape plan involves getting Minister credentials. I'd REALLY like to avoid that if I can.

The American Public still loves him. Freakin UN beleiveable!

It's hard for me to be part of a population where half is so incredibly stupid that they buy the stupidest president ever's BS time and time again.

Check out of Rome, I'm moving to Gallia baby!

to just give up. He says the bushites won't EVER turn on their glorious leader and that if all else fails they'll just cheat again. :(

If I can't get into Canada, then I'm returning to the land of my grandfather - viva Mexico!

15. Join the army and desert to Canada - Much easier...
than having to live in Nunavut or the other frozen territories.:)

I can't believe it's that hard to Americans to get landed immigrant status in Canada. Maybe Canadians can start a petition on behalf of all liberal-minded American that would like to join us?

We'll call it the American liberal exodus.

saying they promise not to harbor any draft dodgers this time.

This was done during the run up to Iraq, IIRC.

22. I keep thinking about this
I'm still young and I'm going to be an RN in a couple years (potential draft risks if you believe some of the rumors). Not to mention I have sons. With the state of things as the are and the potential of worse if * gets another term, it's not inconceivable to me to want to get out. My husband says "stay and fight". In principle, that's nice and he's too old to worry about it for himself, but I'm not ready to die for the cause of nationalism. For the people I love, yes, not for nationalism or Haliburton's profit margin.

23. Isn't Nunanuvut
the newest Canadian province? I think they become one within the last 5-10 years....

I've lived in MI all my life, so I'm used to cold weather, though I'm sure the weather up there is a million times worse than anything we've got down here.

Yukon sounds pretty cool too...

25. IIRC, about half of the NW Territories got returned
to the aboriginals in 1998-99. It's sort of a semi-autonomous province. I'm sure our Canadian DUers will correct me on this.

It's not exactly a province; it's a self-governing territory created as sort of an Inuit homeland. It's quite huge, and mostly empty... well, so's most of Canada, come to that.
