9. you gotta hand it to her family..... how would you like to try to defend
someone in your famiy doing something like that with photo evidence beamed throughout the world????????????? Given she is from a rural community, I would have thought they might be a bit defensive about her obvious (illegitimate)pregnancy-- beyond her reprehensible role in the sexual-related mistreatment of prisoners,however superficial it might have been-- but I sure didn't detect any qualms...

15. I saw her best friend on TV the other night, claiming...
...that Private England was only doing what she was told to do. Isn't that the same defense the Nazis used at Nuremberg?

17. Not a defence the Army will be using, I imagine.
Or the Bush Administration, come to that.

27. Yeah, by her partner in crime
who's also being brought up on charges.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A9210-2004May7.html

<snip>

"She is accused of "assaulting Iraqi detainees on multiple occasions;" conspiring with another soldier, Spc. Charles Graner, to mistreat the prisoners; committing an indecent act; and committing acts "that were prejudicial to good order and discipline and were of nature to bring discredit upon the armed forces through her mistreatment of Iraqi detainees."

<snip>

"England's family said she is four months pregnant with Graner's child. Graner's attorney has said he faces a possible court-martial on criminal charges of maltreatment and indecent acts."

2. I think she'll be a talk show host on Fox or MSRNC as soon as the ink
dries on her pardon issued by Bush in the last days of his presidency

22. Sorry, but
Shannon Doherty is WAY too old to play her.

I think it's a role for Jessica Simpson.

13. Worse than that, do you think Larry Flynt will make her an offer...
...He had some "moral" misgivings regarding Jessica Lynch but I'll bet he's love to sell a few truckloads of his rag by including Ms. Thumbs-up.

18. Ouch!!
In lieu of the Fraulein, I would suggest (for a semi-serious interpretation of the events) the director of "Thirteen" as the director, Christina Ricci as Pointy Girl, Paul Reuben/Pee Wee Herman as Chip, the cast of "JAG" as the JAG people, and Anthony Hopkins -- in a hybrid of his Richard Nixon/Hannibal Lechter performances -- as Donald Rumsfeld. Open casting for all other roles.....

the Coen Brothers direct and they call it "Abu Gharib Simple" or "The Big Iraqowski."

20. The whole thing is just disturbing
:scared: I'm not a "stick my head in the sand person", but it's so reprehensible that words are simply hard to find. I just don't understand how the minds of some people operate.
