So who here has a navel ring? I could use some advice
This is my second time with a navel piercing and, unlike the first time around, I'm having a lot of trouble with redness and swelling. I do it all, sea salt soaks at least twice a day; I use anti-bacterial soap and clean it carefully as well, but I no longer use any antibiotic cream or anything like that because I heard that it can make things worse.

I have done everything I can think of and it's STILL red and sore and just won't seem to heal. Any ideas from those who have or have had navel piercings?

1. Your body is a temple. Why do it?
Oh what the hell. I just don't like body piercings and tattoos. Whatever turns you on.

2. It's not for everyone
I don't have any other piercings and I don't have any tattoos, nor do I have any plans to get any. The navel piercing is mostly my incentive to keep my abs in shape, or at least it started out that way. I like it, or did until I had to have it redone. To each his own and all that, eh? ;)

3. All I can say, having dated a girl who had a piercing there
Is clean it regularly...that and the tongue are the two most likely piercings to get an infection.

Oh, and also make sure the place you get it done is clean.

4. I'm obsessive about keeping it clean
Maybe a bit TOO obsessive, but I guess one can never be too careful. The place that I had it done is VERY clean, I picked it because the guy who runs it used to be an RN and has a great reputation for cleanliness and keeping things sterile.

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with having it pierced a second time, but who knows?

6. I had trouble with mine because...
of bending at the waist all the time (especially doing crunches) and wearing pants that rubbed too much against it.

7. I thought of that
It is a problem, but it didn't seem to affect me the first time. I'm getting really frustrated and ready to just pull it out and forget about it. Kinda hate to tho, I've collected some really nice ones :)
