DU outdoors enthusiasts:
I'm looking at purchasing a high-performance water resistant jacket from Sierra Designs. My only concern is the quality of their products. My recent purchases of The North Face and Lowe Alpine have left me with nothing short of disappointment in the quality of construction, to the point where I will not purchase their equipment again. Any suggestions to the contrary against Sierra Designs or otherwise.

Thanks in advance!

1. I have one of their tents, I love it. A friend had a jacket of theirs
and it was good too.

Of course, both are pre-NAFTA, so I don't know what may have changed. This is the problem in all the "outdoor" clothing world now, too much is sacrificed for the fashion trade.

3. I've noticed this especially with The North Face...
it's become almost a statement of socioeconomic status rather than avid outdoorsman, I'm a big Mountain Hardware fan now...

but "water resistant" anything never cuts the mustard with this outdoorsman.Been there, been burned(or soaked) "Waterproof" or nothing.
