looking for a good battery charging system
My wife and I just recently had a baby, and I suddenly see thousands of batteries in my future. Everything that babies sleep in seems to have battery-powered vibrators, music, etc. To say nothing of the camera, the eventual toys...

I've heard of battery charging systems that are intelligent enough to adapt to NiMH, Nicad and even regular alkaline, but I'm having trouble finding good consumer info.

I need something that can handle D-cells, and ideally 9v, as well as the usual AA/AAA

Anybody have recommendations, and/or know where to find a good system?
Thanks,
E

1. NiMH is the way to go!
Fast chargers are handy but the batteries suffer in overall life (# of charge cycles)
Overnight chargers are cheaper and kinder to the batteries but you have to wait up to 24 hours for them to charge.

My Ray-o-Vac fast charger works great! It does 4 AA-AAA or a 9V battery in about an hour, cost me about $28. Expect your batteries to get hot using a fast charger

Google NiMH chargers for more info.

2. Batteries and chargers
NiMH are the way to go. Most chargers will charge Nimh or nicad. I don't know of any that will also charge alkaline. I use a rayovac that charges nimh or nicad (AA&AAA) and also will charge 9volt. I also use a maha energy c204f which also works well. check out this site. they carry a wide variety of chargers and batteries.
