I'm almost positive your USB is on in the BIOS, you got some shakey advice in that other thread. Go to My computer, then click control panel, then system look for devices in that list you should see USB root hub device or something like that

2. Interrupt your boot sequence, should be something like F8
Edited on Sat May-08-04 03:27 PM by Old and In the Way
and see if the fardware settings for USB are enabled. Careful with making other changes there, though.

On edit: I agree with mharris...that is where you want to check and enable your USB settings.

13. Get a USB to PS/2 adaptor
That should allow the keyboard to work before the OS loads.

8. hmm
You should not need to change the bios settings unless you want to use the keyboard with DOS.

14. Actually you do have to enable the USB keyboard in the BIOS
Most USB keyboards will work long enough for you to hit Delete to enter the bios, and then it's listed under either Standard CMOS or BIOS settings.

EVERY usb keyboard i've ever used, I've had to enable.

15. in my experience not
It my not work in boot menus, but once Windows has started the Bios setting should make no difference whatsoever.
But I agree that there might be Mainoards with a more demanding bios implementation.

17. I must have...
misread the post, upon reading it again, it wasn't mentioned if the keyboard wasn't working in dos, or in windows. You have to enable it for dos, but not windows :)

11. you may have to enable usb support in your bios
setup program. unfortunately, you will need a keyboard to do it. when you boot up, you have the option of entering the bios setup program (it's usually by pressing the delete key, but it will tell you which key to press). i forget where it usually is, but i know my bios has that option. good luck!

12. legacy support *should* stay active until the OS boots
So in theory an USB keyboard should work to enter setup.
It might help to plug it in only after the Bios reports a keyboard error - plugging in the keyboard at different moments during the boot process might help.
But if the USB port works, no bios tweaking should be necessary - the HID driver takes over after the OS loads.
