Poll question: What should I do tonight?
My new boyfriend is a bit tired today (so am I, heh), so we're going out to the park tomorrow.

But what should I do tonight? I'm bored...

1. Go to the bar
take advantage that the bill hasn't passed yet.

I'm going to the club when I get out of work. Maybe I'll see you there.

5. Now wait just a moment! :-) :-)

Just because I have a vague curiosity about tinkering with a woman's bumpy bits doesn't mean I want to actually do it! Well, maybe I do, but if I hadn't found Dave I might have by now... (but Dave reminded me how great men are! )

Besides, I'm a monogamist, if not a serial monogamist. One at a time and not to engage in infidelity. After 4 years (3 years, 44 days to be precise, don't aks me why), I've finally got someone and I'm not going to cheat on him. After all, we both deserve our disease-free status.

9. I didn't ever expect the dating world to take a turn for the BETTER...
:D I wasn't expecting him to turn out so spectacularly as he had. We really click well.

I'd been in the dating realm since I came out in 1996. I've had only 3 boyfriends and about 100 rejections. The first one was just using me as rebound material (this lasted for 2 months, back in 1998)... The second was still ashamed to be gay (big time Catholic, but my guess is that he's bi, but 3 months later he disappeared... May 26-August 26, 2000...) And now it's #3 (May 7, 2004-????). Definitely the best so far and I think he's actually sincere. If it lasts only 3 months, then it's 3 months I'm happy for and 3 years after this breakup, if I'm still around, I'll be whining once again if the dating world remains a desert. Right now, I'm going to be live and be happy. (it's a refreshing change, I can assure you...)

I am learning to appreciate life by living in the moment and not conjuring up dreamy masterplans about having a hubby in a big house with a picket fence and 3 cars and neighbors who'll like us and 2.17 children... and it might end up that way too. :-)

8. Oh goody, thanks for asking!
Well, his name is Dave. He's a sales manager. 35 years old. We click really well and have enough similar interests (the differences being that, apart from Futurama, he's not really into sci-fi and he's more middle-of-the-road politically, whereas I'm big into sci-fi and am waaaaaaaaay-left, but we can talk for HOURS - which is way cool, we've shared interests in comedy and photography and he loves playing card games/trivia - we almost are "two of a kind"). Our first date alone was 3.5 hours long and composed of mostly chatting, the second 5 was playing games, talking, forgetting to order a delivery pizza, watching a Dave Chappelle DVD, and then the final 62 minutes that got cut short... :-(

When he popped the proverbial question, I answered that life is a journey, not a destination. And while I'd love to find Mr. Right-for-all-eternity, the only way to get there is to live in the process. It may or may not be forever, but many people who plan for life to be a certain way never get to experience it in the way they want it to be. People need to live and try to make the dream come true, not just fantasize.

Now considering I scare most men off after 1 e-mail exchange, if not 20 minutes into a date (which is pretty rare), I pretty much knew that there was something special between us despite having had only 2 dates, and given the amount of discussion, I don't think he was trying to bamboozle me, he definitely knew his stuff.

(He also mentioned how he felt that most people on that personals site were shallow and that I seemed to have some depth. That made my day. :-) )

10. A tradition at my home is to watch British comedies
Our PBS station airs British comedies on Saturday night, so me, my wife and step-son plop down on the couch, pop some popcorn, and have some laughs. Oregon Public Broadcasting currently airs:

As Time Goes By (Dame Judi Dench, Geoffrey Palmer, great, great show)
My Hero
Kiss Me, Kate
Two's Company (with the fabulous Elaine Stritch)

Also, Monty Python's Life of Brian is playing at a few theaters across the country.

11. OH MY GAAAAWD!!! I am so happy for you!
You've made my entire weekend, I'm really proud its going well and hope things proceed smoothly. Your post the other night sounded so much like me 20 years ago and I really felt your unhappiness.

As you said, even if it only lasts a while, it still beats the alternative. And, once in a while, you hit paydirt. Maybe this is your time!

:toast: Absolute best to both of you.

12. Thanks!
I'm glad I responded to him. I'm glad he responded back! So far so good...

He was too tired to go out today. :-( Tomorrow might be possible, but I gather there's a storm coming that could be severe. Time will tell (and since when are the meteorologists ever right beyond a 6 hour time frame?), but I'd love to see him again...

13. So far, so good...I'm an incurable romantic but I can also be a pessimist
Sometimes, quite by accident, good things happen to good people.

Don't count on it, but don't rule it out either.
