2. 40% of us are A
Only 15% of us are negative
So A Negative types are (.15 X 40)% = 6%

8. O negative--
My husband was AB positive and when our second child was born in 1961 she had to have two blood exchanges--not transfusions but exchanges. We didn't know for 3 weeks whether she would make it or not. I was a basket case. Nowadays they use photo something or other and it is controllable but those days were mighty dire.

28. That's easy..
You are heterozygous A+ and so is your spouse which means you both carry positive Rh factor and negative Rh factor. Your child had a one in four of being negative Rh factor.

For me I am O neg (phenotype cde/cde). The "d" represents the "Rh" factor. You and your spouse would be D/d which would express the + Rh factor. I hope this explains it.

25. A neg here. Interesting book: Eat Right for your Blood Type. It sets
up a scenario that the first "cave men people" were meat eaters and had O positive blood, the oldest and predominate blood type all over the world. Type A developed with agriculture, and eating more grains and so on. Just paraphrasing the theory, but wouldn't it be a hoot if Dems/Repugs had different rates of the types? Just musing...

34. Me too
The only time I've had my blood typed ;-0, the woman doing it redid the test three times. (She was concerned that the chemicals she was using were old.)

I should give blood, due to the fact this blood type is so rare, but I am a really, really big baby.

Edited on Mon May-10-04 02:06 AM by liarliartieonfire
Question?
My father is O positive and my mom is A positive...so how did I end up O negative...??

Somone told me it cannot be unless one of my parents is not the real one..!!
But I know they are. And I know I am O negative.
Whats up with this?

On edit..I thank you Rexcat post #28 for clearing up the confusion..I'm not sure I understand HOW it works, but its enough just knowing that it is possible.
tks
