I think there should be an acts-like-a-mother's day.

I'm serious. I rent the third floor of my family's house from them, but technically I live with 4 other people (sometimes more, depending on who's in and out). I work three jobs, I do the cooking, I clean up afterward, I remember everyones birthday/anniversary/whatever, I do the household shopping, take care of the family pets.
I love to cook, but I also love hearing 'thank you' or 'that was great'. I love my cats, but I'd love it if someone else remembered that they need feeding. I don't mind shopping, but I'd love it if someone would remember to, say, give me grocery money or offer me a ride to buy them their groceries for the week.
Today was mothers day, and I love my mother very very much. But I was feeling a little bitter. I do totally appreciate that she's my mother, she raised me, supported me into adulthood. She's a great person. But at the same time, all day, I was feeling like "I mother this family, and no one EVER says thank you. EVER. Including my Mum.


And before you even ask why I still do it, it's because I love my family. And I was born with an overdeveloped nurturing complex.

And by the way, Happy Acts-Like A-Mother Day. You're a good sorta-mom, and here's a long-stemmed rose just for you -

2500 miles away from my family because we don't get along, I just made my mothers day call and its always hard to do. Along with that I hate my wife sometimes, what are you doing next Sat. night? BTW your a good person for being so nice to your family :)
