Politicians Fight Over "Bong" Nickname
<snip>

WHAT'S in a nickname? Quite a lot in the Philippines, where two candidates standing for parliament have fought a bitter legal battle over the right to be called "Bong".

Voters can choose their favoured candidate by nickname alone, and bowling champion Olivia "Bong" Coo feared losing vital votes to movie star Ramon "Bong" Revilla in the race for a Senate seat in upcoming polls.

However the Supreme Court rejected a petition from Coo and ruled that Revilla also had right to use the nickname. It ruled that neither of the candidates should be credited if the voter only wrote "Bong".

1. A solution...
Do a couple of bongs, and then vote for El Kabong(Quickdraw McGraws sidekick, for the younger people).

3. That was a funny bit in The Critic too.
One of Franklin Sherman's many alternate personas:

"Make way for El Kabong..." *hits Jay over the head* "Kabonngg!"

2. LOL. The Monty Python election special sketch comes to mind here.
Well here at Luton it's a three-cornered contest between, from left to right, Alan Jones (Sensible Party), Tarquin Fintimlinbinwhinbimlim Bus Stop Poontang Poontang Ole Biscuit-Barrel (Silly Party), and Kevin Phillips Bong, who is running on the Slightly Silly ticket.
