19. Probably Veterans of
Splinter Cell, SOCOM, and the rest of the Xbox platoons and Playstation Battalions.

As for this real Vet, I'm voting for Kerry.

6. I was told off
Edited on Mon May-10-04 04:50 PM by saracat
by a Dem while walking my voter precinct. He said that both he and his wife had father's who were Nam vets and hated Kerry. He also said they would no longer vote for anyone in the Democratic Party because they nominated Kerry. I think the freepers are planting voters because this guy and his wife were 58 years old and that would make them not their parents Vietnam era.I told him what a coincidence , Kerry was a Vietnam Vet too!Anyone else experience anything peculiar like this? And is it likely a 58 year old would have a Vietnam Vet for a father?

7. well..
a 58 year old would have been 22 in 1968...a 22 year old could have a father who was fifty...could have both been there, but you wouldn't expect it...

8. It's possible.
Edited on Mon May-10-04 05:00 PM by WVhill
The father was probably on the far side of forty at that time. If my father had staid in after WW II, he would have had about twenty five years in by the time of Vietnam. By 1972, he would have still been in for less than thirty.

11. Strange logic, if you ask me.
SO I guess we can assume they'd like the war to have continued indefinitely? We'd be up to 250,000 dead soldiers about now if people like Kerry had not stepped forward and opposed that war.

Ayone who criticizes Kerry's action should explain at what point, enough is enough....and who gets to decide?

20. You should have told them
to shut the F up. Since they weren't Vets they have no bussiness denigrating his service. They must not care much about service in the first place if they vote for the AWOL Chimp.

Despite the media spin increasing numbers of enlisted military and even some in the officer ranks of the active duty are growing tired of "all hype and no delivery." Many veterans including myself (US Army 82-86), my older Brother(101st Airborne USA Vietnam 67-69) and my Husband (USMC retired) of 21 years are voting for Kerry this November.

Please have faith that larger numbers of both Military Active Duty and Veterans are waking-up to the fact that the George Bush Administration does not care for the military.

My father (Dx: Alz)is in a State Veterans' (elder) home. With these crones closing three Veterans Hospitals over the weekend, I'm wondering if they will completely turn their backs on our dear WWII vets who die at the rate of 1000/day. My family can afford to care for him in a civilian facility but many other Ret. Veteran's families can not support their elderly family members.

We may be more subdued but we are loyal to those who appreciate our service. George W. Bush will only rule with the "willfully braindead ditto-heads" and in the Field/General Grade officer ranks come election time.

Here's my bumper sticker;-)

14. some of the people coming back from Iraq
knew nothing about Kerry but were hating Bush and were very pro-Kerry at first. Their first "taste" of Kerry back in the US has been all the negative ads against him. So, some of them are either grudgingly voting for Bush or just not voting (remember, this in only May and things can change). My husband sees this every day at work (he's Army)... people that don't like Bush, but their only sense of Kerry is from the anti-Kerry ads.

17. Why?
Kerry is a decorated combat vet. What the hell can they say about him that is even remotely as bad as things Bush has actually done?

And if any real combat vets have a problem with Kerry based solely on the words of someone who used his family's position to duck Vietnam versus someone who volunteered...... know what I'm saying?

18. I'm not really sure exactly why they had the reaction they...
...did. One was a veteran of Korea and Vietnam. I have known him a long time and he has always been a laid back sort of guy but he was almost red talking about Kerry so I did not mention it again.

The other incident was when I was having dinner with a group that included several men who had fought in WWII and Korea. They did not agree with how Bush is conducting the war but expressed the same hatred of Kerry. I mentioned Kerry's decoration and was told rather directly by one man that his son served two tours in Vietnam and part of that time was patrolling by boat near the same area as Kerry. He said one would have to be a complete moron to get all those medals in that short of time. After this I limited talk to WWII and Korea.
