Is there a surplus of conservative books at your bookstore?
Deliver Us from Evil: Defeating Terrorism, Despotism and Liberalism, by sean hannity

Slouching Towards Gomorrah: Modern Liberalism and American Decline, by robert h. dork

Treason: Liberal Treachery from the Cold War to the War on Terrorism, by ann coultergeist

They're everywhere. Littering the aisles of my local Bucks & Noble* like worms after a heavy rain. And good luck finding a spare of copy of Worse than Watergate by John W. Dean (I got the last one this weekend, neener neener!), or The Bush Hater's Handbook by Jack Huberman. And how about Molly Ivins? Al Franken? Dream on! Check back on Thursday. Maybe.

Discouraging? No. After an amicable chat with the manager, I was informed that they just can't keep the liberal books in stock. They sell like tea bags in England. And the conservative publishers send them more books than they can ever possibly sell. It's the illusion of being a majority the conservatives trying to impose on you. Don't believe it.

So, how's your bookstore doing lately?

* The Barnes & Noble near us has a built-in Starbucks, hence the nickname. On the bright side, the fucker is open 24 hours.

1. Our B & N seems to have quite a few
But to their credit, they seem to have an equal number of liberal books too. Hey, they're in it for the money and no other reason.

2. Maybe they should take all the unsold freeper tomes...
...and put them in a unique and eye-catching display...a pyramid, perhaps.

4. Our local independent bookstore ALWAYS has a ton of conservative books!
Of course, that section is a lot smaller than the liberal books section. I was just there this weekend buying my mom a mother's day present. I bought her John Kerry's book.

9. Ever been in a used bookstore?
Every one of them has a minimum of 5 copies of Lee Iacocca's biography, with an additional Iacocca for every 100 other books they have. I saw a bookstore with fifteen copies of that useless block, one of them signed by the author (and for $2.95, it could belong to YOU).

I never thought anyone could dethrone Iacocca as the King of Used and Unwanted Books, but I think hannity just might.

11. I'd imagine they eventually do.
I hear rumors everywhere that publishers of conservative books print far too many of them. O, the wasted trees.

10. where do you live? because last time i went into mine, it was
conservative overdose. the liberal books were stashed way in the back in the political science section. and someone thought it was funny to put hillary's book in political humor section. i made sure to replace hillary's books with all of ann coulter's trash. i know. petty and passive aggressive. but damn if it didn't feel good.

12. My local Borders
• Bob Woodward and Richard Clarke’s books were displayed in prominent view near the front
• Hillary Clinton’s memoirs were in prominent view near the front of the store where you couldn’t miss it
• Mike Moore’s TWO books were near the front of the store were it would be very hard to miss it.
• Seems to have an abundance of Chomsky resources
• While it has books by Hannity, O’Reilly, Coulter and Barbara Olsen, it also has books by Joe Conason, Greg Palast, JH Hatfield and quite a few other liberal writers. And the liberal writers seem to be more prominently displayed than the conservative authors –you have to look very hard to find people like Barbara Olsen whereas it seems to be much easier to find books such as “Fortunate Son”

I like my local Borders:)
