1. It sounded like a great subject to explore in fiction
Sadly, I'm about 3 books behind on Gibson at the moment.

3. I liked it....
But I don't think I'd go so far as "best novel I've read in a while." I liked the premise-- the woman who's affected by advertising-- and the Gibsonian layering of the story. "Skirt-thing" ought to be a common metaphore!

5. I just realized it is the first novel I've read in a while -
I'm surrounded by piles of books by people like Clarke, Phillips, etc - after all that, it was very refreshing :-) What was your favorite recently?

8. I just finished China Mieville's...

...Perdito Street Station and The Scar-- not my usual cuppa because I prefer fairly hard SF-- but I enjoyed both and The Scar was particularly excellent. Most recent favorite real SF was Peter Hamilton's Fallen Dragon, I think. I've just re-read Dan Simmon's Hyperion series for the fourth time-- it gets better each time.

4. I liked it too.
Some of his sylistic touches grated on me, but overall I liked the insights into Guerilla marketing et al.
