Although, IMHO, that is closer to what a gallon of gas should cost in America (to bring us more in line with the rest of the globe), moving the price a large amount in a short time as has recently occurred can really screw things up. In many ways.

Smells like... erupting inflation.

Phew. It stinks.

So - what is a gallon of regular at your nearest petrol dispenser?

3. $1.96 down the street
If I drive 20 minutes I can get it for $1.93 but is it worth it?

To be honest, I live out in the boonies and it's a 60 miles trip to get most anywhere. I've had to rethink my driving habits lately. I get good gas mileage but I seriously can't afford to fill the car up much.

Here in Eastern Iowa. Last week I went to work at 4:30 A.M. and gas was $1.76/gallon. When I got off at 5:00 P.M, it was $1.86. So since Friday, it has gone up by $.15/gallon. Ridiculous.:wow: :grr:

Government controlled price. So it's all the same at every gas station no matter where in the country or brand.

Across the River in Menominee, MI it's a little cheaper over there due to Michigan's much lower gas tax, it was $1.93 over there yesterday.

I think they'll go over 2 bucks in Marinette today.

46. I'm in favor of $5 a gallon gas, at least in ...
... air quality non-attainment areas. People in clean air areas are ok; I'd target the tax on environmental bad actors. I would NOT tax oil as a chemical feedstock. Nor would I tax gasoline or diesel fuel for commerical vehicles; the goal is not to cripple the economy. The target should be discretionary driving and urban sprawl, and a stiff gas tax is a way to discipline consumers.<p>It would also raise a significant amount of money.
