What's the most you've ever spent on a meal?
What did you have and was it worth it? Would you do it again?

2. Just on myself or on others?
Just on myself I'd say $50, yeah it was worth it. I had a bunch of drinks and the rest was a greek dish I can't remember. At the time it was the first good meal i'd had in weeks.

3. $450, for two, in Paris
A restaurant with 2 Michelin stars.

It absolutely and unequivocally was not worth it, not by far. I am a big foodie and even a food snob, I love and know food, and this meal (just last Thursday)was not worth it. I have eaten as well for $100 in Paris and for less elsewhere, here in the US and particularly in Lisbon where I had some amazing meals.

I wanted to go all out and eat in a high level Paris restaurant, just once, to see if its really better. I felt suckered and stupid to have paid so much more than I had to for the same quality.

The room was decorated better, the waiters had on very fancy suits, there was a lot of heavy sterling silver on the table, but the food was just good, not even great.

4. $125 on a date
about $65 on myself...quite by accident......stuck at a hotel during a snowstorm and the hotel dinning room, quite formal was the only place open....wasn't worth it.

The $125 thing was at a really nice restaurant in Orlando and I went there specifically to impress the date....felt really out of place.

5. $120 (for two) at a place called The Fort
:eyes:

Highly pretentious, they specialize in rare meats like rattlesnake, venison, caribou (I've since dubbed it the "Tastes Like Chicken" restaurant). You know, the stuff cowboys and ranchers would eat back in the old west, right? Except I don't think they would have paid that much on one meal.

6. About $70
This was for a steak dinner at the restaurant Prime at the Bellagio in Vegas. It was a special occasion, so worth the $$. BTW--the waiter wore a Rolex. I'm in the wrong business!

Paging WillPitt
I was thinking the same thing, Allen! ;-)

To those who don't know, Will's thread on this very topic became one of the most infamous Lounge threads. Ever. :D

9. $75 per person
Had Christmas brunch last year at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Pentagon City (Arlington), Virginia. The buffet had sushi (with a wasabi angel), spicy mussels, shrimp cocktail, salmon pate, various breads and salads, roast turkey, rib roast, Colorado lamb chops, broiled salmon, various vegetables, champagne and orange juice, hot chocolate (Ibarra), pistachio sponge cake, chocolate mouse decorated with gold foil, fruit tarts, puddings, etc.

Worth every damn penny. My partner and I are going to the Tysons Corner Ritz-Carlton for our joint birthday celebration this weekend. It's supposed to be even better than the Pentagon City location.

If I expire during the meal, know I died happy.
