Please Read: People are stupid and they suck and I hate some of them!
I just got off the phone with Clare from the Northwoods Humane Society. Seems that they got a complaint call at the shelter about someone who had 18 (yes, EIGHTEEN) puppies in the basement of their house.

Turns out this numbnuts was giving away puppies that were only 4 to 5 weeks old!

The animal control officer and Clare told this guy that they would help him get the females spayed so that there would be no more litters and when they asked him if he had told the people who gotten some of the puppies about spaying and neutering he said it wasn't his concern. They were, after all, JUST DOGS, he said. I don't know him. I hate him all the same.

So now the shelter has several new puppies with more coming in a few weeks.

I beseech you. PLEASE spay or neuter your pets. Even if you think they're going to be indoors only please do it for them.

Do it for

7. I'd like to amend that to add people who say...
So what, they're JUST dogs.

He said you might get one or two good ones in a lifetime. The rest are just dogs.

Hate him. So bad.

9. Unfortunately, you don't need to pass a test to be a dog/cat/baby owner
My ex got a puppy 8 months ago...I found out from my son that she kept him locked in a room ALONE 23 1/2 hours a day...she asked me 2 weeks ago to watch the puppy for a night as her landlord was doing an inspection, and she wasn't supposed to have a puppy...

So, I, not being a dog lover, said okay...she brought the dog over, (shihtzu, pomeranian, poodle mix...a high class mutt), and the dog had nails of 1 1/2 inches long, and hair so long that the DOG COULDN'T SEE...the long hair was matted, and the puppy smelled like feces...

I instantly fell in love with the poor thing...I called her in the morning, and asked if I could have it (I own a house with a yard & plenty of walking spaces). She happily said yes (obviously she had made a decision to have a dog with extreme tunnel vision, sorta like our son, who is with me for the same reasons).

So, the good news, is that "Quisp" (yes, a dog named after a breakfast cereal) is doing awesome...he was groomed last week, I walk him twice a day, and he is getting the love he so badly needed.

Here's his pic:

Anyways, your post reminded me of this whole situation...good luck with the poor puppies!!!

13. Godamn most people to hell!
I mean that sincerely. I've met more "people/human(?)" who just toss a dog or other animal out somewhere to fend for itself. I'm not Xtian bashing, but the majority of these "people" are Baptist fundies who think the Lord put human here to do what they want to with animals. I try to correct them saying that we are to be stewards for these babies and for the earth. But, noooooo, then it starts "the Bible this, the Bible that." It hurts worse for me to see and hear about animal abuse and neglect than anything else! Please forgive this rant, this is a very sore subject for me. How I wish I could take one of those babies, but I already have four (from the pound. Blessings on all you who take a sweet creature into your life and your home.

20. Whoa! Wait a minute!
I'm Baptist though I sure wouldn't call myself a fundie. I've been to Baptist churches in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin and am now a member of the local Baptist Church here in small-town Oklahoma. I've never heard anyone at any of the Baptist churches I've attended say humans can do anything they want to with animals. It's always been stated that with dominion over animals comes responsibility. Part of that responsibility is to be a steward and to take care of animals. We're to follow God's lead and if he cares about the smallest sparrow then we are to do the same.

I have 2 cats and a dog. My cats are spayed, the dog isn't. The reason my puppy dog, Rufus, isn't neutered is because when he was hit by a car, part of the damage done to my baby was his testicles were crushed. I asked my vet whether he needed to be neutered and the vet said no. I trust my vet because he was able to put my pup back together again and make him just like new. I spent 5 weeks hand watering and hand-feeding Rufus, changing puppy pads and blankets every time he peed or pooped cos he couldn't stand up or walk. I washed blankets twice a day in order for Rufus to have clean, fresh smelling bedding. Poor Ruf lived those 5 weeks in a playpen the Baptist vet let us borrow. Heck, I even gave my first enema ever to Rufus when he became constipated 5 days after his surgery. The last time I was at my Baptist vets office to pick up a case of food my vet had tears in his eyes because Rufus was bounding around like a puppy.

The only lingering "problem" Rufus has is he won't get close to a vehicle that has it's motor on. I consider that a good problem since he now has a healthy respect for cars.

24. As an enforcement officer with a large SPCA I run into the
"God gave us dominion over the animals and we can do what we want" all the time. The BEST comeback, based on years of experience is to quote the Bible right back at them.

"The righteous man regardeth his flock, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel." Proverbs 12:10

Then I ask how righteous they really are.

16. Can I PLEASE have Maggie?
If only my landlord would let me......

I have 3 cats and none of them have ever been out, but they have all been fixed.

There are enough unwanted animals in this world. If ever I want to add another animal to my life, I'll take one of the "unwanted" ones and make it "wanted".

Breeding is for purebreds only.

Cider and Dot have been outside but not since we got them. In our neighborhood, especially next to the busy street, I would be too afraid even if I did believe in letting them out.

25. I'm with you.
About a month and a half ago, some idiot dumped their female pup in our neighborhood. She went into heat and another idiot with an unneutered dog knocked her up. No one can afford to care and feed for her. Guess what? A neighbor called animal control and they picked her up yesterday. I was so upset. She was a very sweet girl and I hope someone adopts her.
BTW, those puppies are adorable!

Should be tracked down and made to pay restitution. Just like they go after deadbeat dads they should go after deadbeat pet parents and hold them responsible, too.

29. I Used To Be An Installer/Repairman
With my local Telco in the pre-Regan days and I saw a lot.

The one thing I'll never forget is having a Beagle "tree" my keyster.

I had to climb a pole on my climbers in a corner of a fence admid a shrub and couldn't get down bcause this sad-eyed hound was so starved for affection, he had to wait at the bottom of the pole for affection from a stranger.

Durn dog cost me an hour out of my schedule that day and 18 months of steak and bones.

30. Some people don't understand...
That dogs are part of your 'pack'. They have the pack mentality. They can't be happy being alone. Of course, there are so many of them that just put the dog out by itself in the yard with no one to talk with or play with. It has to be a fate worse than death for some of them.
