Poll question: The Four Classic Stones Albums - Which is the greatest?
Edited on Fri May-14-04 10:04 AM by Screaming Lord Byron
OK, I'm well aware that a good case can be made for Aftermath and Some Girls, but these are the acknowledged classics from the golden run between 1968 and 1972. I vote for Exile myself, but they're all fantastic.

1. Not to be disagreeable, but I cast a vote for Some Girls
because it was such a comeback, imho. Great stuff, at the edge of the British punk movement (not calling it punk in any way, only saying it held its own in that era).

Great sense of humor throughout, has held up well, as has so much of their stuff.

All this from someone who is admittedly, not a huge fan, just a casual observer.

2. I love Some Girls. These four go in order and are the Golden Period.
That's why they're in.

5. THAT...was not easy
I had to go with Sticky fingers. I go with that one because it was the cross over to the Stones of the 70's. The Jack Daniels soaked Stones just sound so great to me.
But truth be told, these are all great albums. And yeah, Some Girls is a definite classic. But then again...so is..........

6. Surprise lead for Beggars Banquet.
The most overlooked of the four, I'd say.

7. Of these four, "Exile"

But my heart lies with "The Rolling Stones Now!", "Between The Buttons", and "Aftermath".

Add on edit: Can't forget "Out Of Our Heads" and "December's Children".
