Faithful flock to a portrait of Jesus believed to be weeping
(5/12/04 - ROBSTOWN, TX) — Religious pilgrims in a steady stream are making the voyage to a home just outside of Corpus Christi to catch a glimpse of a picture of Jesus that many say is weeping.

There is a long line of people waiting to enter a tiny house in Robstown. Many of them have already heard about the weeping portrait of Jesus, but they want to come and see it for themselves.

Frank and Ashley Tijerina are exhausted. The teenage parents haven't had a good night's sleep in the four months since their son Isaac was born.

"Every surgery, every little accident that he does, I mean… He's just pulling through, pulling through. And he's strong," said Frank. "I mean, he's probably fighting more than what we are, you know? He's just a strong little boy."

1. If he is going to be showing up all over the place
Why not just do it someplace everyone can see it and not be mistaken about the import of it. The moon is perfectly servicible for such an image. Lets just get this over with.

5. Good point, AZ
It's always a picture on a glass window that kinda looks like the European paintings of Jesus or Mary. Then Jesus shows up in watermelon slices. Why not on the side of Mt. Rushmore or, as you say, the moon? Come on - let's get some big miracles here!

2. Must be weeping because gays are about to marry ....
it wouldn't be because of the war, strife and all the suffering in the world.

3. Oh the poor baby!
What an amazing thing that such a baby could live. I'm not trumpeting "US healthcare is best!" because we all know that's wrong; I'm just amazed at the things medical care can (occasionally) achieve.

As for the Jesus thing, I have no comment.

11. Didja ever wonder?
If all the actors & portrayers of Jesus were short, dark, & ugly if the 'pop American Culture' would still buy into the theology?

Considering WASP Americans can't even tolerate the historical Christ having darker skin...............

17. that's not cynical
it's skeptical. People have used religion to scam others for centuries - it's a reasonable position.

13. Religious idols are really emotional
Mary, Jesus, etc. Why are they always weeping? You never hear about a laughing or smiling Jesus. What about a winking Jesus? Or a Mary who rolls her eyes?

Perhaps some therapy would help?

14. Why are these sitings always have Mary or Jesus weeping?
Could it be....sh*t runs!

You want to be the most hated, public enemy #1? Show up at one of these window sitings and toss a rock through the window.
