13. Fearless prediction here, Terry. This guy will do worse that Stock.
We in the NDP are laughing at the idea of this guy leading the opposition.

14. I didn't think that was possible. These people seem bent on...
self destruction.

Peter MacKay is elected, with the help of David Orchard, leader of the Tories. MacKay breaks deal with Orchard, casting his lot with Harper and the Alliance Party. The Tories and Alliance Party merge, and after fears that the Alliance Party will essentially take over the new party, does just that.

Unbeliveable.

PS: Do I have this right? I've been keeping track (along with what I hear from Doug, the b/f who was and is an Orchard supporter)

I think I would fit in with the NDP quite well. I hope they profit from all of this.

15. No, that's spot on, Terry. The CA consumed the PC's
I expect that as the PC's discover this, they'll drift off, as many already have done. Orchard was never a leader though, although he had his own group of supporters. The leader before McKay was Joe Clark, former PM of Canada, a most reasonable individual (my old MP, I've ran into him a few times around town). Clark was the representative of the Red Tories, Fiscally conservative, Socially progressive (one might say radical) Tories, a torch which Orchard (who is strongly anti-NAFTA) carried. Harper is no leader, but McKay is the more treacherous.

16. I understand that Joe Clark is a good man.
I know that he was one of the first to bail out of the merged party. From what I've read about Clark, he seems like a very decent man. Doug thinks that Joe Clark would make a great Governor-General after Adreinne Clarkson.

I hope McKay gets what he deserved. He was the most ruthless back stabber. Maybe this will be a case of karma.

17. Right. Joe maintains his honour, McKay most assuredly, does not.
He may lose his seat to the Liberals. I'd like that. He deserves no better fate.
