Telemarketers are a lifeform lower than virii, part 59,810,982,374

So I have this new cellphone, bought 2 weeks ago, and I receive a telemarketer call (caller ID blocked) from American Express, "we're happy to inform you've been selected to participate in blah blah blah promotion blah blah blah..." I cut him out, as politely as possible, "Sorry, I'm not interested in credit cards right now. Thank you. (click)".

10 seconds later, another call from Mr. "blocked caller ID". This time I just click Talk and immediately End.

10 seconds later... ANOTHER call from Mr. "blocked caller ID". This time I turn the damn phone OFF and leave it off for 5 minutes or so. NOW AmEx seems to have gotten the message.

I want to break something. :argh:

Edit: In case you're wondering, yes, they knew my name beforehand.

1. New Trick! (This is if you're not expecting any calls.)

Pick up, say, "Can you hold on for a moment or two?" When they say yes, put the phone down and walk away. Every second wasted costs the company money.

2. Actually I got call from Kerry's Campaign...
But I told em I already donated. But if you are bothered by telemarketers, put yourself on the do not call list like the other person said. In addition, I suggest you spend a couple of bucks more for caller Id so you know who is calling. There is a great new feature that Qwest offers here on the west coast which if the number is unknown, the person must punch in their phone number before the call routes. Telemarketers can't do this because their calls are auto dialed.
