1. It's a basic short
haircut that's easy to care for, so many women have one similar to that. Nothing special about it. But I think Laura's version is back-combed and then lacquered into place so it won't move in a breeze, so it looks like a helmet. Not an attractive look.

She really needs to have her hair colored professionally. It's pretty obvious she does it herself, probably with some low-cost product like Lady Clairol. A good hair dresser would put highlights in and it would be much more attractive and natural looking. As it is, the color screams, "Dye Job!"

3. i like to call it
the 50yr old bitch cut..but i`m a sexist pig. no there`s alot of women that have the -"i`m on the go so much, just cut it short" "all i have to do is wash and blow dry for a few minutes" like they are afraid if they let their hair grow long they`ll miss something important..
yes laura is a helmet head and doesn`t go to a real pro to have her hair done...hey! she`s a librarian...

has taken to wearing a merkin on her head. I doubt it will become a fad.

6. Interesting thought about alopecia.
Since I haven't seen her in person, it's harder to judge, but since my sons have alopecia areata and I go to the conferences most years, I've seen hundreds, probably thousands of be-wigged women (and a few men) and she just doesn't have the characteristic pale, puffy look of alopecia totalis or universalis. And I've seen lots of real helmet-head hair, which is what this more closely resembles.

The thing with the "cut-it-short-and blow-it-dry-because-I-can't-be-bothered" hairdo is that it can still look good. I have one female friend who has a cut so short it doesn't even need the blowdryer. It's totally unfeminine, and she'd look several hundred percent better if she'd grow it just a little and have some sort of style to it, but guess what? It's here life, her hair, her husband still finds her attractive, so who am I to criticize? But then again, she's not the wife of a public figure who's appearance is subject to endless criticism by everyone who sees her.

Looks like Man hair to me.

Is that sexist?

What's she wearing? Did she run out of curtains.....

7. The hair is bad enough, but look at that facial expression...
Does she even want to be there, being kissed by Winston Churchill..
