1. When I start screaming "BLOOD! FIRE! FIRE EVERYWHERE!"
"STOP! GET OUT OF MY HEAD BEFORE I DESTROY YOU ALL!"
For some reason, people get a little flustered when I do that.

to the melody of "Yesterday".

I guessing that you don't ever sleep on your stomach then?

8. I have had more than one person say I appear "stuck-up"
Hardly, I'm just a bit introverted really (not totally, but I'm usually slow to warm up to people), but I don't look the type of person who would be, so therefore it's assumed I'm arrogant or something. I tend to be awful at chit-chat really.

35. Me too!
SarahBelle, you've given a pretty good description of me in your description of yourself.

I've been told too many times that I'm a snob. But I'm not really, just shy.

Face-to-face, I'm usually pretty warm, but have a slow warm-up period.

I don't know about you, but I'm pretty empathic, and I just can't open up very easily, because I have to keep up "certain" defences.

Let those defences down a bit, and I can be a chatty-Kathy. But not a doormat; so don't f*** with me or play mind-games.

37. I bet you can be appropriately devastating
though, when someone takes your introvertedness for granted and thinks you're a pushover.

We shy ones can deliver catastrophic zingers sometimes, when we have too.

Seriously, you can tell when people are stunned by that.

If they don't know me, they give me the suspect eye that I'm going to "sound" or "act" a certain way, and when I open my mouth, they're blown away. Sad but true.

Even anglo friends who've been beside me as it happens, have witnessed it and are amazed.

God people hate that!

"How does this dress look on me?" she asks.
"What do you think of my new car?" he said.
"Don't you think George Bush is just wonderful?" the old lady gushed.

Sorry, but I tell it like it is, and that just pisses everybody off. If you don't want to know waht I really think, don't ask me.

18. Two propensities:
Edited on Sat May-15-04 09:44 PM by LWolf
I'm blunt and to the point,

and I don't tolerate bullshit, incompetence, time-wasting, or ignorance packaged as conventional wisdom, group activities, or morale boosters.

When my boss asks for input at our weekly staff meetings, I usually don't respond at all. When I do, there is a range of responses around the room, before I've even stated my case. Some cringe, some smirk, and some cough, splutter, etc. to cover their amusement or glee, depending. Some clench their fists and get ready to storm off in a huff. And my boss' response is always, "Wow, ___________. Tell us how you really feel."

I've just never mastered how to soften where I'm coming from. Or, it just isn't a priority most of the time.

27. Interestingly enough,
I just listened to my mother go on about a situation at her office this morning; she was fed up with bullshit and incompetence. And I took a call from my son, the manager of two regional offices, with much the same story Friday night.

It's a family trait, apparently.

Or it's a trait of intelligent, diligent, ethical people who want to do a job right, or not waste time on it at all.

People just can't understand that I don't watch TV, listen to the radio, have no debt, don't have a "consumer lifestlye," walk or take the bus, enjoy my own company...

I don't "fit" with the world - and it intimidates the hell out of them. How can someone live like that and be happy?

Well, I do.

25. I usually look at things "from a different angle"
than most people. Even though I'm soft-spoken about it, about 75% of people exposed to my real opinions think I'm a kook. (Dare I add that some of the remaining 25% think I'm insightful and brilliant?) Anyway, my differing from conventional thinking scares a lot of people.

43. intelligence, integrity, and honesty
People get really freaked out because I am intense. They say I know it all, which I NEVER claim to know it all. I work in a job where I am supposed to know or GET the right answers everytime because they are depending upon it. I will not lie. I will not steal. I will not take what I believe is more than my share. It makes others uncomfortable. I don't go around looking down at them, but they feel a put down.

One day a colleague came in and said my son upset her mother. He refused to take the last donut in church because he said someone else might need it more than him. The colleague's mother was mad because she wanted that donut and felt guilty because it would have been her 3rd. Hed showed integrity. She hated it. Runs in the family.
