One of mine has to be "The Fast and the Furious", as much as I love Vinny, it was not much of an artisitc triumph.

I have personal experience with that movie. The Vendor at my store (dont damn me to hell becuase I work for Wal-Mart) Anderson ordered LOADS OF IT because Disney said it was going to be a hit. We got paraded with signage, demos, kiddie activites and then the day came. We ended up with LOADS OF IT and didnt sell but a hand full of the like 600 copies on VHS and DVD we were shipped. I think I counted at one point 7 cardboard displayers...........

67. A crushing disappointment for me, since the book was so good
In the book, they didn't have access to firearms, which made it a lot more tense and exciting as to how they were going to get out of their situation.

In the movie, after an hour and a half of killing and mayhem, our heroes open up some sort of gun locker and get to blastin'. WTF?!!

What a joke of a movie.

Much like Star Wars, the acting was bad, the plot uninventive, the pacing atrocious. But both had mostly good effects, so I'm thinking that's why anybody went to see either of them.

Maybe you should see it again. How you can compare it to Star Wars is beyond me. The acting was great, the cinamatography was beautiful, the plot was very good. And the question of: What is Rome ?, was probed on many different levels and many of the different characters had different answers that I found to be of current value and interest. ...Oscar

Endless tech for tech's sake, non-stop product placement-the movie was just a vehicle for corporate advertising.

I only saw it because my new Rayban sunglasses came with a free pass.

By the time the 30 minutes of wam-bam previews were over (complete with lengthy produced commercials) I was exhausted before the frikkin' movie began.

That little talking dog was in no way amusing. Nor were the humans.

I've never seen hollywood so clearly telling me that I am stupid, than when I saw this movie, then witnessed it do well at the box office.

This movie was so bad that I now believe Tarantino is a relative genius. Alls he does is derive shots from movies he has seen, but compared to the bad-plot-bad-script-cg-driven crap that the summer season crams down our throat... all four of his movies are diamonds in the rough.

77. Saving Private Ryan was a Great Movie
I still remember sitting in the theater after the movie was over and the complete silence throughout the viewing audience. It was a packed house so no wisecracks, please. The reality of the battle scenes was unprecedented. People do get blown to pieces and bleed a lot in battles, and this movie brought that home. Machine guns really can cut a man in two, etc. ...Oscar

was when Hanks gets called to the rear to be given his 'private Ryan' mission.

Oh, the look he gives the sandwich that some clerk typist Rear-Eschelon-Mother-Fucker has casually left lying on a plate was gold.
Very beautiful shot.

T'was tripe.

And I agree on almost everything previously listed.

Yes - I'm a film snob. For starters, I own everything ever made by Herzog and Kurosawa.

66. American Beauty
So many things I hate about this movie:

1) Kevin Spacey. Sorry, I know a lot of people here think he is some sort of God. But frankly, I don't think the man can act to save his ass. He sort of walks through every part speaking in a monotone, always with the same blank expression on his face. I guess some people interpret this as "depth".

2) Its creepy jailbait lust theme. This movie seems like a masturbatory fantasy for mouth-breathing middle-aged men. I was not aware at the time that the actress who plays Spacey's daughter was underage at the time she did her nude scene. This makes it even creepier.

3) Its heavy-handed sophomoric take on our materialistic society. "They're yuppies and they're miserable!! GET IT?!! GET IT?!!"

4) The rip-off of the "hovering bag scene" from a New York independent filmmaker, with no credit given whatsoever.

5) The trite, sterotypical depiction of the homophobic marine next door as (THAT'S RIGHT! How did you know?!) secretly gay. I'm sorry, but not all homophobes are closet gays. A great many of them are just ignorant and frightened of things they do not understand.

6) The ending, which was so pointless and stupid that I interpreted it as a blessing, for the family onscreen and for me as the viewer.

Did I mention I hate this fucking movie?

75. The Sting has to be one of the most overrated:Best Picture Oscar: 1973
What a disappointment this movie was for me with actors such as Robert Redford and Paul Newman in thier prime, I found it boring and the plot so contrived and unrealistic, in 3 words: SILLY AND BORING. ...Oscar P.S. and I am Oscar so I should know

82. I liked every one of the "bad" movies listed above.
I go to the movies looking for entertainment, and I am seldom disappointed.

I know people who go to the movies looking for opportunities to assert their "superior" taste who are likewise seldom disappointed. However, those "superior" sorts miss out on the pure joy and excitement that I get from watching an entertaining "bad" movie. I wouldn't change places with them for the world.

Last night I enjoyed myself immensely watching Earth vs. The Flying Saucers (1956), and the night before that I got a huge kick out of watching Comic Book; The Movie. Give me a "bad" movie any day of the week. I LOVE them! Think I'll sit down this evening, pop up a big batch of popcorn, and enjoy a Matrix marathon! Life doesn't get any better than that.

I don't know, I think Pesci, Rock, and Jet Li were the reasons. Also gotta love the chicken suit scene. I laugh everytime I see that movie.

85. I sit out a lot of blockbusters, but...
"Titanic" had tremendously dumb dialogue and was dreadfully silly.

I hated "Notting Hill." I hated it, hated, hated. Did I mention that I hated it?

And don't get me started on "Pretty Woman."

90. Right there with you on "Notting Hill." What a loathsome movie.
And "Pretty Woman" was vile and manipulative, too.

For the record, I'm not particularly prejudiced against Julia Roberts (although she does choose her "projects" a bit too carefully).

Awful, just awful. I have fallen asleep everytime I've tried to watch it.

Then, I wind up thinking all kind of silly things like "Go ahead monkey, whack that bone. Whack itttt! You know you're gonna do it!"
