MY FIRST POST....... I LOVE DU...!!

Finally I can post. I don't have a clue when this transformation happened. I was resigned to only reply ...

I'll have to read the rules and make sure I don't get banned, because DU is NOT by any means democratic.

what should I be aware of when posting? what are the limits?

...... Members do not have the complete freedom to post their views....

Nevertheless, I saw a remarkable change/transformation in the I/P forum that shocked me. It's probably slack moderating, if not, than DU has probably changed from what it was 1.5 years ago

3. Basically, be nice

don't post something that would be construed as being racist or bigoted. Don't post something that is obviously a right-wing view (Like 'I love GWB'!-believe it or not, posters have done that!). Don't get personal in calling someone names, etc.

I look at it this way-I pretend I'm in a cafe having conversations, and I try not to post things that I wouldn't be comfortable saying to a person's face.

5. Different meanings to "Democratic"

This Democratic refers to "of or relating to the Democratic Party".

It does not mean "of or related to democracy."

This is a private forum, owned privately, operated privately. If you don't like our rules, there are a million and one other boards you can post on. This is a place for us to discuss the issues concerning our party. We are not here for debate amongst conservatives. Most of us go onto different political forums for such a discussion.

I just joined and actually read it. You should, too.

9. I actually like the rule.......

.......even if they aren't democratic.... I find they allow for the smooth management of the forum, to a great extent.

The difference in the meaning is besides the point.

My main concerns are the issues in the Democratic party, that's why i'm here..! My blood boils in debates with conservatives, which is why I'm pleased republican disrupters are kicked out.....

I only just realised this is a privately owned site. I actually mentioned as much in a message to Skinner today.

I'm probably wrong about the slack moderating comment, because the forums are full of moderators... I need to read the rules and look around for a while.......

If it wasn't slack moderating then DU has progressed...... to the better.
