Noooo (topic:boxing)

Roy Jones Jr! My favorite boxer gets knocked down in the 2nd round? :wtf: ESPN put it in words that pretty much sum up the feeling for me. "A single punch and 15 years of dominance crumbled."

1. It was really sad.
I have always admired and respected Roy. He has added class to my favorite sport. Being the toughest guy in a city, or a county, or a state .... that's something. But to be the best in the world .... for a lot of years .... is almost impossible.
I thought that, although he looked like he was 65% of his old self, that Roy took the first fight 7 to 5, at least, and probably 8-4. But the speed wasn't there. It's one thing to out-do a slow John Ruiz, who averaged 20 punches per round in his 10 fights before Roy. But not a sharp, fast counter-puncher with power.
Last night, in the 1st, it seemed Roy couldn't put together a 3-punch combination. I said to my buddy watching the fight that it's very dangerous to keep your hands low while moving towards a Bob Foster-like man. But I was still shocked to see it happen.
I hope Roy gets a divorce from boxing. Don King will try to appeal to the side of Roy who wants to go out a "winner." I hope Roy knows he already has given his true fans enough in the ring.
I'm curious: where do you rate him against the other great light heavyweights?

2. He's one of favorite boxers to watch, due to his skill and style,
However, doesn't he also raise fighting cocks on his Florida farm? I seem to remember something about that....
