A TSTM knocked the power out, yet I'm still on DU.
My 10kW generator is putting out fairly pure AC, according to my oscilloscope. Ends up there is a powered circuit in my ham shack/computer room. No lights, just AC. I can use it for communications, if necessary (2-meter or HF). Hard to type in the dark. I am still planning on a solar-charged battery bank for back up communications. Obviously, the phone line (DSL) still works.

Now we have steady, light rain. That will mean a great watering-in for the garden that I finished planting today.

2. Well, my cell phone doesn't work up here in the mountains.
That's why the 2-meter mountain network is so important. When the phone and electricity are both out, I can still work the mountain-top repeaters of Asheville, NC, Greenville, SC, and Anderson, SC. Sometimes I can work Atlanta (Stone Mountain) through the Commerce, Ga, repeater.

3. Power is back! Generator did a great job for nearly six hours.
Great to have a little light on my keyboard again.
