Just witnessed the emergence of cicadas

Apparently they come out at night and transform into winged incets. I never got to see this the last time they came, since I was 6 years old then, and I had to be in bed. Seems like midnight is when they like to some out. I'll have to say it is a truly remarkable sight.

4. cicadas vs. crickets?
At the risk of sounding ignorant -- which bug is it that makes the noise at night -- crickets, cicadas or both? ... got me wondering....

5. cicadas are the loud ones that make noise round the clock
its kinda like a buzzing sound... i cant really describe it, but its a pretty loud bug.

last time they all came out i was one year old... should be interesting this summer.
