Assembylman's Son Busted In Upper East Side Attack on Prom Teen
May 17, 2004 -- The son of a Manhattan state Assemblyman has been arrested for beating a teen returning from his high-school prom, police sources said yesterday.
Terrence Grannis, 18, the son of Alexander "Pete" Grannis (D-Manhattan) was charged with assault in the attack early Saturday on Robertino Lim, 17, in Carl Schurz Park outside Gracie Mansion at 1:30 a.m.

Grannis and two friends, who were carrying a knife and a baseball bat, put Lim in a headlock and began to punch and kick him, law-enforcement sources said.

Before attacking him, Grannis approached Lim, who attends prestigious Regis HS in Manhattan, and asked him if he had any marijuana, according to police sources. But Roy Lim, the victim's father claimed, it was a robbery. "They jumped on him and said, 'You're being robbed,' " he said. "The swelling on his right eye was as big as a baseball. Aside from that, he's all right, thank God."
